Through This Mother's Eyes
With the life and death of our son Zachary, God drew us closer to Him.  Through many tears, prayers and sleepless nights we gained a new perspective of our Lord.  For some reason, God chose to entrust us with a very special little boy that was daignosed with the fatal chromosomal disorder Trisomy 18.  Through it all, the one resounding truth that has repeatedly made itself known is that "GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES."  But the things we knew before Zachary still hold true today.  God loves us (John 3:16), His ways are not our ways, He loves Zachary more than we can imagine (Rom. 8:38-39), God's grace is sufficient (2 Cor. 12:9), children are a gift-- a blessing form the Lord (Ps. 34:17), He is good--ALL THE TIME (Ex. 34:6), He wants to give us the desires of our heart (Ps. 127:3), and HE IS ABLE (2 Tim. 1:12). These are only some of the promises He has given us,  It can be so easy to forget about God's promises but there are moments in life when God speaks resoundingly to remind us of His love and care.  In the week following Zachary's funeral, we decided to take some time away at the beach.  The day we left to go to the beach, afternoon storms blanketed the Gulfcoast.  When the rain began to let up, we decided to make our way down to the beach, though we were doubtful of how enjoyable the time away would be with the weather the way it was.  But as we drove, the skies began to clear and God gave to us not one, but TWO rainbows that stretched across our way.  Never before had we seen something so beautiful and never before had God spoken so strongly to us of His love and care.  We tried to take a picture of them but knew that it could never capture the splendor of it.  As an artist, this is my attempt to capture that moment on canvas.  Painting has helped me in my healing.
