CHEEKY'S PAGE

In memory of a loving dog and friend
2001 - 2005

Cheeky, a few months old

This page is dedicated to our four-year old Rottweiller bitch, Cheeky that had to be put down on the 22nd of November 2005, a few months shy of her 5th birthday. This is a small photo tribute to her.

When we received Cheeky as a puppy in 2001 she was abused and very scared. However she grew up to be strong and assertive, never shying away from danger. She was a supreme guard dog and we felt safe in the knowledge that Cheeky was on her post, protecting her family and property. Through winter, rain or wind and stormy weather, Cheeky was always the first to issue a warning bark. Cheeky and babies

She had her first and only litter in September 2001. Being young, she lacked the basic motherly instincts, but still protected her babies with a fierce determination. As we kept two of the male puppies, they together with their father and Cheeky's companion, will carry on her legacy.

Cheeky resting in the shadeCheeky my girl, you were a loving friend and companion with a lovely temperament. You will be missed for a long time and it will be impossible to replace you. There is a big hole in our hearts and we hope that you are living it up wherever you may be, chasing after rabbits in the knowledge that there are no more dangers.Greeting me

I'm going to miss the moments when I checked on you at night through the window and you were always there, ready to greet me, tail wagging, with that half-grin on your face. Your always licking tongue when you greeted us in the morning. The playful abandon you showed after a greeting. There is so much that we are going to miss.

I'm listeningCheeky my meisie, ek gaan jou mis.

Go well my girl. You will forever be in our memory and we will never forget you. The only regret is that you had to die so young. Your loving family.
