Power and Authority
Power and Authority there are two Greek words we are going to focus on. The 1st one Power in the Greek is dunamis this is miraculous power it is used 120 times ( 100 children of the promise + 20 expectation). Authority which is sometimes translated power is exousia it means the right to act, delegated influence it is used 103 times ( 100 children of the promise + 3 divine completeness). We are going to begin this study in Luke chapter 9, in the previous chapter Christ was on his way to heal the daughter of Jairus and a woman that had the issue of blood 12years touched the border of his garment and was healed. When he came to Jairus’s daughter who was 12yrs she was dead and he raised her from the dead. If you would think in chronological order this study will have more of an impact on you......if that confuses it for you set that aside. Without any further ado lets go to the 9th Chapter.
Luke 9:1 ¶ Then he called his twelve (Governmental Perfection) disciples together, and gave them POWER (Dunamis) and AUTHORITY (Exousia) over all devils, and to cure diseases.
Called in the Greek is sugkaleo which means to convoke-to summon or to meet ro assemble; it is used 12 times (Governmental Perfection). Disciple is one that is disciplined in the Word, a learner or a pupil. That is a condition you must be a student of the Word of God-Jesus the Christ. Miraculous power and delegated influence over all devils and to cure diseases. Cure in the Greek is therapeuo English therapeutics denotes primarily to worship, to heal, restore to health, to cure; it is used 44 times (40-probation + 4-creation-this earth age). Diseases in the Greek is nosos it means a malady which is a disorder or disease of the body; used rarely fig. moral disability; it is used 12times.
Luke 9:2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
Notice that he sent them- an apostle is one that is sent these are no longer disciples but rather apostles. The kingdom of God- King and his dominion-heaven and earth, and heal the sick. So we see they are sent to do two things heal spiritually and physically. In Matthew 10:6 they were instructed to go to the lost sheep of Israel(Prince that prevails with God-Christ-Spiritual seed.) This would be the time of the sealing of Rev. 7, the time of the Prophesying to the dry bones of Eze 37, 1260 days prior to the booting out of Satan. This would be symbolic of restoring Israel ( Spiritual Seed ).
Lets go to Acts chapter 1, I am going to do this a little backwards but I want to drive home a point so lets go to the 10th verse of chapter 1.
Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
These two that stood by would be the self same two of Zech. 4:14 and Rev. 11:4; Notice they have on white apparel which we know from Rev. 19:8 is the righteousness of the saints.
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, SHALL SO COME IN LIKE MANNER AS YE HAVE SEEN HIM GO INTO HEAVEN.
The same way that he left he shall return. Now lets go to the second verse of this 1st chapter of Acts.
Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Remember what was said in the 11th verse. Look at this like this until the day in which he will return. There are those apostles-sent ones that are sent out to plant the seeds of Truth to restore Israel (spiritual seed) Chosen ones God’s Elect.
Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Think of Genesis 7:11 when the windows of heaven were opened and it rained 40 days and 40 nights which is the positive side of Gen. 7:11 the negative being the great deep was broken up the flood of lies that go forth, remember from chapter 8 of Genesis that it wasn’t until after the 40 days that the Raven-sym. Of Satan was sent out. What did he speak to them? Things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Remember Luke 9:2 they were sent to preach the Kingdom of God.
Lets skip to the 6th verse of this chapter
Acts 1:6 ¶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.(Exousia)
We see here that it is in the Father’s delegated influence when the restoration shall take place.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power,(Dunamis) after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the UTTERMOST PART OF THE EARTH.
We see here this is the time of the Witnessing when God’s Elect are delivered up and the Holy Spirit speaks through them as written in Mark 13:9. Dunamis that miraculous power which it is not our power but the Father’s. This would take place 10days after the 40days.
Lets go to the 10th chapter of the book of Luke.
Luke 10:17 ¶ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Seventy in Biblical numerics is Universality- Israel and her Restoration. Joy in the Greek is chara it means calm delight it is used 59 times ( 50 Holy Spirit + 9 Judgment). Subject in the Greek is hupotasso it means to rank under; it is used 49 times (40 probation + 9 judgment). Don’t look past that through Christ’s Name. We see here the total restoration of Israel taking place. The next couple of verses will give us the time line.
Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan (Accuser) as lightning fall from heaven.
There is that time given. Revelation chapter 12 verse 7 tells us of when Satan and his angels are cast out of Heaven to the earth. In verse 10 of that chapter it tells us that the accuser of our brethren is cast down.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you POWER (Exousia) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the POWER (Dunamis) of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
We know that it is not us that has the Authority but rather Our Father through Christ that we have Authority. Christ has given us delegated influence over all of the miraculous power of our enemy. Serpents- the beguiler and those that would beguile you); Scorpions- that locust army spoken of in Revelation chapter 9 satan’s angels. Notice that there is a colon which means what follows is a further elaboration of what has been said. Nothing in the Greek is oudeis it means not even one (man, woman, or thing); none, nobody, nothing. Hurt in the Greek is adikeo which means do wrong ( morally, socially or physically).
Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Rejoice in the Greek is chairo which means calmly happy or well off; it is used 77times (70- Universality-Israel and her redemption +7 spiritual completeness). Spirit in the Greek is pneuma. Subject here is the same word used in the 17th verse hupotasso which means to rank under. Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. This also looks to Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. By the Grace of God there go I. As we know from Romans 3:23 we all have sinned and fell short of the Glory of God.
Lets go one last place I want to just briefly touch on this Power Dunamis and Authority Exousia that Satan has- For every negative there is a positive. Because as it stated in that 19th verse of Luke 10 the power-dunamis-miraculous power of thine enemies we are given Authority-Exousia over.
Lets go to the 13th chapter of Revelation
Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power (Dunamis) and his seat, and great authority. (Exousia)
We know that this is the Political beast we see here who gives the miraculous power and delegated influence. The Dragon Satan’s political role. I think it is important to know that not only does Satan have this miraculous power and delegated influence but likewise does the 10 kings-10horns which have 10 crowns upon their heads, therefore this would shed some light on who they are non other that those angels that are casted out with Satan because as it states in the Rev. 9:7 the locust army they have as it were crowns of gold upon their heads.
Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power (Exousia) as kings one hour with the beast.13 These have one mind, and shall give their power (Dunamis) and strength (Exousia) unto the beast.
We see here that they shall give their miraculous power and delegated influence unto the beast this beast here being the Religious beast non other than Satan himself playing the role of God/Christ.
Do we have to worry about this of course not Our Father has given us authority over their power as long as we stay plugged into "The Power" daily and stay spiritually awake we have nothing to worry about.
