This is the little grey girl on the pasture. She is called

Zahara

Originally I set out to find a stately stallion and met Zahara by chance. But after a second look and trying her out I liked her so much – despite the rolls of fat she had at the time – that I bought her.

After a few communication problems in the beginning – she spoke western, I spoke dressage – we are pals now. Zahara does her best to please, is a fast learner and makes me laugh all the time with her grimaces.

Zahara was born on May 31, 1996 in Aguilas in the province of Murcia in Spain. Her father is Prometido II. In Spain she had 3 different owners before she came to Germany with Uwe Peters. She had her basic training with his wife Astrid, has been on a cattle drive and a few horse fairs and in 2002 had a pretty colt that unfortunately died by accident. When she came to me she was a bit overweight from lack of work and very soon had been renamed ‘pug’.

In the meantime Zahara has been with me for 5 years. Time flies.
In addition to our regular dressage work we do all kinds of things:
Jumping: in 2004 we competed in eventing.
Side saddle: another task we have mastered.
Long reins: a pas-de-deux on long reins with Astrid and Legolas of Cavalleria I'Barock is now ready and had its premiere in June of 2007.
Circus exercises: she does the compliment, we’re working on lying down. Rearing is no problem, one day it’ll be a levade.
Performances: we perform with Cavalleria I'Barock at different occasions, in the quadrille and now on the long reins as well.
Fun: not to be missed out on, e.g. riding out, swimming in the lake or go to a medieval re-enactment event.

At the beginning of July 2008 we moved to England, more specifically to Ely in Cambridgeshire. The trip took 2 days with an overnight stay in Belgium. before going on the ferry at Calais we went for a nice ride on the beach. Since then Zahara has made herself at home, lost some weight and already found a new best friend: Rhapsody, a German import from the Rhineland. We enjoy hacking on the soft paths of the fens, jumping in our eventing field or training dressage in the school just behing our stable.
