Chapter 6
Once upon a time, in a continent that was torn apart by fighting tribes there
rose a legend, a legendary love, a legendary leader. Some people believe that
there is a master plan, others think we decide our own destinies. But one can
only wondered what might have come of this beautiful continent had there not
been that first provident meeting between the two people. A young man, tired
with the politics that ruled his father’s household, ran away from his home to
have some peace and quiet. A young woman, yearning for freedom, snuck away from
her government wanting the same peace and quiet.
Somehow both found their way to the small market where vendors prized their
goods, where hard working farmers came to sell their crops, where women offered
their services and shabby looking men were more interested in their purses. The
signs of their descendants from the higher class hidden under their cloaks, both
walked around aimlessly.
Admiring a necklace the young woman turned around to hold its stone into the
light. The man walked around a corner his eye more interested in the goods
displayed then in the path in front of him. And that’s how it happened, a
collision between two people, a collision that changed everything.
From the first moment they laid eyes upon each other they fell in love, Andreas
& Milandre. And from this love came power, a power strong enough to join all the
quarrelling tribes, to form a thriving unity.
Under their ruling Antarra flourished, beautiful palaces were built, cities
exchanged their wooden huts and muddy streets for stone houses and cobble
streets.
The four children that came from the union of Andreas and Milandre, formed the
four royal families. Antarra, Evander, Lasara and Whitman. For eons there was
peace and the Royal family Antarra ruled. But then jealousy arose in one of the
other families, blinded, the Lasaras arose against its own blood. Unable to
settle the dispute peacefully and not wanting to lead the country into a war
against her own kin, Queen Mesinia decided to give that what the Lasaras
thrived, its own country, its own rulership.
So came into existence the country of Lasara, a once green and lush country that
under the endurance of eons of hardship and greed of its King became barren.
The three remaining families stayed a close nit group, guiding each other and
their beloved land into glory, but always keeping a watchful eye on their
neighbouring country wanting to close the gap that had once formed.
The Antarra’s remained the rulers of Antarra. The Evanders stood by them,
advising their kin, as they still do today. Politics no longer holding their
interest the Whitmans settled in Minavant, a district of vast land and wild
horses, yet their sons and daughters are still found in the palace.
It was from this history that arose the celebrations and festivities of the
Ballina de Rosi. The ball that rejoiced the very first collision between the two
that begun the rule that was both legendary and potent in the power and love
that the reign came from.
A history that begun with a collision, a history that was bound to be repeated…a
history in which peace was fought for and earned through sacrifice and
heroics…all this was celebrated during the Ballina, the Ballina that was going
to occur in one day…the Ballina that was the perfect time to formally introduce
Maria to noble society, the Ballina that was perfect time for Khivar to sabotage
the Antarrans he hated so much for depriving of him of what he thought was his
rightful inheritance once by his birth as heir to Lasara not Antarra and a
second time by denying him that right when the marriage to Ameria fell apart.
Many awaited the Ballina to begin, Maria with trepidation and slight nervousness
she would die before admitting, Michael with anticipation he couldn’t explain,
except for the fact that he would get to hold her in his arms again and announce
to the world they lived in, of his claim, a claim he would deny to his last
breathe, Isabel with excitement and control she was famous for…everything would
go perfectly. No one would dare spoil an event she organised. Deirana and Tebram
with a combination of fear and happiness, fear for what could go wrong and
happiness for what would go right, Ellie in panic and exhilaration, both coming
from the memories of last time she had a chance to meet her granddaughter, the
people of Thera, rumours of the collision already across the borders and Khivar,
who waited with a combination of envy, hatred and smugness for the plans that
would come into being on the fateful day.
One day to the Ballina…one day and the history of Antarra would be decided.
