Evite was launched.

Dear Class of 1994,

It's been ten years since the class of 1994 left Zama High School, and we're looking forward to the chance to see everyone again.

We invite all graduates, and those we counted as our classmates through the years, to attend the 10-Year Reunion in Las Vegas, NV from July 17-18, 2004.

This event will coincide with the Zama Alumni Association's biannual All-Class Reunion. The extent to which our reunion activities will overlap with theirs is still uncertain, but we do plan to have at least one Class of 94 event. And of course you will be free to make your own plans with old friends!

Please respond to this invitation and let your classmates know if you expect to attend.

We hope to see you there!

Dear Classmates,

Thanks for responding to the 10-Year Reunion Evite. We're eagerly tracking your responses and are happy to see that plenty of people are interested in attending.

Now that we've got a preliminary head count, we'd need to survey your preferences on two topics: hotel accommodations and participation in the all-class Zama Alumni Association reunion.

----- Question 1: Hotel Accommodations

After researching numerous options, we plan to block a set of rooms at the Flamingo, located center strip. (See
http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com/cities/lasvegas/maps/map_striphotels.htm for point of reference.) The discounted rate is $109/night on Friday and Saturday nights. (Additional nights - e.g. for Thursday arrival or Monday departure - are not subject to this rate.)

QUESTION: Would you be interested in booking a room at this rate?

------ Question 2: Attending the All-Class Reunion

The all-class reunion will be taking place the same weekend at The Orleans hotel. (See http://www.zahsalumni.com for full details.) This reunion will be attended by graduates from all classes - the current RSVP list includes over one hundred people from as far back as the Class of 1960. This reunion includes three events:
(1) a Friday night "Teen Club Night" serving burgers and hot dogs and including a live band of ZAHS alumni,
(2) a Saturday night "Dinner Dance" - entertainment by DJ,
and (3) a Sunday morning "Sayonara Breakfast".

There is also an informal bowling tournament being scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The registration fee for this reunion is $150/alumnus and $130/guest (if booked by Jun 12, else a fee of $200 applies to both alumni and guests). If you are not already a member of the Zama Alumni Association, you will also be asked to join for a $20 annual membership fee.

QUESTION: Given these events and the corresponding fees, would you be interested in attending the all-class reunion?

In order to submit your responses to these questions, please revisit your response to the Evite (if you've already responded, please use the Change Your Reply button) and answer two survey questions that we've added to the form.

** PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL **
Your response will not be received by us - these email notifications are being sent by Evite.
If you have any questions, please email us at zama94reunion@yahoo.com.

Your answers will help us make the plans, and a prompt response will be *greatly* appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Dear Classmates,

We now have finalized information for you on the group rate available at the Flamingo Las Vegas. The details follow below. Please read them in their entirety and call to make your reservation as soon as possible! We have just 25 rooms booked at this rate, and if there is additional demand we may be able to negotiate for more rooms, but only if we act quickly.

If there are any problems, please contact Jorell Domingo at: jorelldomingo@yahoo.com or (310) 266-2417.

Thanks, Jorell, for all your hard work in researching our options and negotiating this contract!

Full details on the hotel accommodations follow, but cannot be posted on the Evite due to space limitations. Look for a new link on the Evite that leads to a runoff page for all additional detail not posted in the invitation.

--------------------------------------------------

Flamingo Las Vegas
3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Las Vegas, NV 89109

HOW TO RESERVE:
Reservation line: (800) 835-5686, Option 1 (Room Reservations)
Local number (for those unable to call 800-numbers): (702) 733-3100, Option 4 (Flamingo Las Vegas).
This line will answer as Caesar's Entertainment, but the Flamingo is one of the hotels in their group.

You must call into one of these numbers and not reserve on their website (or any other travel site) to get the group rate.

Use Group Code: SFZHS4.
Give this to the reservations agent for our group rates. References to 'Zama HS' or 'Class of '94' will not work.

Deadline to reserve is Wednesday, June 16, 2004.
Otherwise, rooms get released to the public. Folks should reserve as soon as they are able, though.

GROUP RATE:
Friday (7/16) and Saturday(7/17): $109/night+tax
Single- or double- occupancy. You can request a room with two double-beds, but if you mention that there are going to be more than 2 adults in the room, you may get charged extra. Children 18 and under may stay in parent's room at no charge.

We have 25 rooms available at this rate. We may be able to get more if there is a demand, but the rate is not guaranteed over the initial allotment of 25 rooms.

This is for check-in on Friday (after 3pm) and check out Sunday (7/18) at noon. Late checkout must be cleared with the front desk.

Those coming in early (Thursday) or staying an extra night (Sunday) must check on availability and rates when they call. Thursday night is almost sold out due to a convention, and rates are higher (probably between $129-140). Sunday night is open (currently about $60-65).

I would encourage people who are coming in on Thursday call as soon ASAP. Otherwise, they may have to look for another place for one night.

All reservations require a first night's deposit at the time the reservation is made. Credit cards used for the deposit will be charged immediately. Cancellations made within 72 hours of arrival will be charged the first night's rate+tax.

[Are you not coming to the reunion? Don't press delete yet! This email is for you, too.]

Dear Classmates,

Our team is busy planning class events and will be in touch with updates as they become available. In the meantime, I'd like to call your attention to an additional project we're undertaking.

--- INTRODUCING THE CLASS BOOK ---

In the interest of sharing information on where everyone is and what everyone has been up to, including those who will be unable to join us for the reunion, we will be collecting information for distribution as part of a Class Book. This book will be an opportunity for you to share updates and photographs, as well as answer some of the questions your classmates might wish to ask you themselves.

The details of this project are not yet finalized, but here's what we are proposing:
- Prior to the reunion, you complete a short online survey, giving an update on yourself and answering a few pre-reunion questions. You also submit any photographs you'd like included via email.
- Our team publishes the replies as a handout which will be distributed at the reunion.

"But I'm not going to the reunion", you say? There's something for you, too!

- After the reunion is over, those who attended the reunion complete another short online survey, recalling your favorite memories from the weekend and answering a few post-reunion questions. Again, photographs from the weekend will be most gratefully accepted.
- Our team will publish both the pre- and post-reunion replies as a CD and mail these out to our classmates.

In this way, classmates who were unable to join us for the reunion can not only speak up about where life has taken them, but can also share in some of the memories that they weren't able to experience themselves.

Now, here's the catch:
* You will only get a handout/CD if you respond to the pre-reunion survey! *

--- QUESTION IDEAS ---

So... what am I asking of you now?

I'd like to know what questions you'd like to ask of your classmates. The simple facts (where you live, what you do, spouses and children, etc.) will be covered, but I'm looking for the pressing questions you really want to hear answered by the people you knew way back when. Keep in mind that I'm interested in finding questions about our classmates for the pre-reunion survey (e.g. "Who are you looking forward to seeing the most?") AND about the reunion itself for the post-reunion survey (e.g. "Who's changed the most since Zama?").

Please submit your question ideas by replying to this email (zama94reunion@yahoo.com). I will be collecting question suggestions through May 15, shortly after which I will be launching the pre-reunion online survey.

I hope you all will consider participating, whether you can attend the reunion or not.

Thanks for your contributions!

Cindy Morikone

Dear Classmates,

We've fielded some questions in recent weeks about the relationship between the Class of 94 reunion and the All-Class Reunion that is being hosted by the Zama Alumni Association.

Please understand that these are two separate events, organized by two separate groups. You should feel free to attend both events (as some classmates are), but they are two independent events and should be treated as such.

For your convenience, the differences between the two events have been summarized on our website at:

http://www.oocities.org/zama94reunion#20040605

If you have any questions after reading these summaries, please send email to zama94reunion@yahoo.com.

Dear Classmates,

We're still working hard to finalize the details of our reunion weekend events, but we'd like to let you know what we've got planned so far.

Attendance at our class reunion is going to exceed our highest expectations - a full 43 guests are now listed as Yes on the Evite invitation, with another 26 still holding firm as Maybes. With a crowd this big, we've moved squarely into a whole new bracket for large group events.

Now we know that by opting out of the All-Class Reunion, many of you are indicating your reluctance to drop big bucks for a couple of events. So with that in mind, we have tried to make arrangements that are as flexible and affordable as possible, but that means that we will not be reserving private spaces in which to hold our events. We'll just have to stick together as best we can!

Here's the rundown:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday:

The Flamingo casino and hotel, where many of us will be staying, is home to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, a full service restaurant and bar that opened in January 2004. We will be meeting at this venue for an informal meet-and-greet starting at 5:00PM. We can meet and mingle in the bar areas or can choose to sit down to dinner in small groups as the night goes on.

Later in the evening, we will be moving the party to a bar/lounge/club somewhere in the vicinity. We're evaluating venues that can accommodate a group of our size and enable us to hang together as much as possible.

Saturday:

Our day will start around 1:00PM with a class reception in the Flamingo hotel. Jamie (Tanaka) Weyeneth has very graciously offered to open her suite for an afternoon of mixing, and we will be providing light snacks and drinks (a modest contribution will be requested to cover the costs). Here, we'll distribute the Class Book survey results to those who participated, screen some old video yearbooks, and take a class photograph.

Sometime around 4:00PM or so, we'll be moving out to an early dinner. Here's where things are still fuzzy - trying to reserve space for a group of 30-50 without that doesn't require advanced payment and a firm headcount is proving to be a real challenge. We may yet succeed and head over to a reserved space, or we may just move as a group to a large venue and ask to be seated together.

After dinner, the remainder of the night will be up to you. If you found some old friends who you'd like to spend more time catching up with, you can make plans individually. As a back-up, however, for those who'd like to stick together, we'll be scouting out another bar-type venue where we can continue into the night.

Reunion "Hotline" Phone Number:

Since some parts of the plan are still very much subject to change, we will be distributing a reunion-hotline phone number that you can call over the course of the weekend to find out where the events are being held. That way, if the party has moved from one bar to another, you'll know where to find us. The hotline will also be the means for announcing the location of the Saturday afternoon mixer - after all, we won't know the room number until we arrive in Vegas. So look for that number in a future email and be sure to keep it with you in Vegas.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that's what we've got so far. We'll keep you posted as things develop.

Hope everyone's doing well and getting psyched for the reunion weekend!

Jul 2, 2004

Hi everyone,

Just two more weeks until we descend upon Las Vegas!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm seriously amped for this trip. The chance to see everyone and catch up, eat and drink, and make my standard "donation" to the Vegas casinos is pretty exciting, and I can't wait to get there.

There are a full 29 classmates and their guests who are planning to attend, giving us a total headcount of 48! Plus, there are 8 more classmates still on the fence as Maybe's, so the party could get even bigger.

Some last-minute information for you all:

- Be prepared: Vegas in the summertime can be HOT, high temps upwards of 100 degrees. On the other hand, any location more than two steps indoors is likely to be air-conditioned to the extremes (gotta keep those gamblers comfortable). So please plan accordingly. Note also that daytime and nighttime temps vary drastically, so pack accordingly.

For your reference, here's the Las Vegas weather forecast for the month of July: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/USNV0049

- A couple of quick event reminders:

Friday, 5PM @ Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville: Greet classmates and kick off the weekend.

Saturday, 1PM @ Flamingo hotel (Room Number TBA): Class reception in Jamie's suite. Light snacks and drinks only (so please have lunch before coming!), Class Books will be distributed to those who completed the survey (so complete your survey now!), and a Class Photograph will be taken

Saturday, 4PM: We'll move over to a nearby buffet for an early dinner.

Friday and Saturday late-night socializing have yet to be decided. A number of venues are being evaluated, and we'll make the decisions as we go.

- VERY IMPORTANT: Write down this phone number - (310) 266-2417

This number is Jorell's cell phone, and it will be serving as our reunion hotline number. Call this number to find out where we are and where we're going (in particular for the Friday and Saturday night gatherings). We'll be updating the outgoing voicemail message periodically with the latest information, so if no one picks up, make sure to stay on the line for the message.

Note: You'll have to call this number on Saturday morning to get the room number for our Saturday afternoon reception. If for any reason you can't get through, you can also use the Flamingo hotel phone and ask to be connected with the room of a guest named Weyeneth (Jamie or Adam).

Can't wait to see you all!

Cindy

As always, any questions can be directed to zama94reunion@yahoo.com.

Dear Classmates,

Just one week to go, now. I've got one quick reminder for you and one request - please read to the end!

Reminder: Take the reunion hotline number (310-266-2417) with you to Las Vegas. This number will have a recorded message with information on reunion activities, and if Jorell should answer, you'll even get a direct connection to one of the planners.

Request: Please reply to this email (the message will go to zama94reunion@yahoo.com) with the day and time (round off to the nearest hour, please) of both your arrival and departure. We'll be using this information to plan for events, and I'll be posting everyone's arrival/departure schedule on the website, so you can see who will be around while you're there:

http://www.oocities.org/zama94reunion/#20040709

Please hit reply now!

Thanks, and see you soon!
