Zangz's Deep Dark Well of Dislikes
Oh dear.  It seems as though you've fallen through a trap door and into the bowels of my Vault of Geekdom.  How unfortunate.  It is down here where I get to hem and haw, gripe and grump and complain about those things which are quite bothersome to me.  That is why I keep them hidden down here with the smelly undead things that crawl about. It's quite dark.  Be careful.......
- Religious Zealotry!  Nothing turns me off more!  Whether its terrorists flying planes into buildings or some televangelist preaching that if you let your children read Harry Potter you’re all going to hell, every level of religious fanaticism sickens me.

- People who turn information or entertainment into propaganda and brainwash the ignorant into their own belief system.  Watch either The 700 Club or The West Wing and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

- Using scapegoats to detract from what the real problem is!  The whole Columbine thing got way out of hand when the media, religious groups and parents blamed everything from Marilyn Manson to video games to the National Rifle Association for the tragedy when the two sets of parents of the perpetrators and their role (or lack their of) seemed to go unquestioned.  And now there’s some ding-bat who’s working up a lawsuit against the makers of the computer game, Everquest, because her 21 year old son killed himself after playing it for hours straight.  Did she ever get the hint that her son might be a COMPLETE MENTAL CASE which led to him making the decision to end his life due to the results of a video game?  These “parents” who take advantage of their kid’s deaths and sue video game companies/ rock bands/ publishers not only get rich quick off of tragedy, but also help promote censorship, are THE lowest form of life!

- When a passion is turned into fanaticism or a cause is turned into social terrorism.  Religious zealots and animal rights activists are on the top of this list.  If you want to live by a certain code or lifestyle, good for you.  If you want to judge or attack me (whether it be physically or verbally) because I don’t share your views, you’ve gone too far.

- Self Righteousness!  When people take it upon themselves to take away something from others simply because it isn’t part of their own belief system just reeks of fascism and ego.  Religious zealots trying to ban Halloween to save our souls from the devil, senators trying to take video games off store shelves to purify the minds of children, senator’s wives trying to ban rock albums, even people who try and destroy or move items of ANY religion from a public place are all perfect examples and are not tolerated by me!!

- Censorship: See Self Righteousness.

- Big egos and elitism.  Whether it is some yuppie that looks down at me ‘cause I don’t make as much money as they do or someone from the “counter culture” who looks down at me because I just don’t “get” performance art, these folks are usually full of themselves…as well as something else.

- When people step on or use others to achieve their goals then backstab them.  You can also include when company heads give themselves HUGE raises the same year that they lay off people who have worked hard for years at the same company.  That’s low class!

- Shallowness is really unattractive.  I know money and looks are very beneficial things to have, but we seem to rely way too much on them in deciding how to accept people.  If you keep going after the pretty people with money and continue getting cheated on or treated poorly and keep asking yourself, “Is it me?  Why am I a failure at finding true love?”  Yes it is.  And maybe if you went out with a geek/geekette you may find true love.

- Lack of communication.  It surprises me that we get anything done at all when our culture is so wrapped up in not communicating.

- Pathetic drivers.  Both over aggressive and extremely passive drivers get my teeth clenching.  When I have some punk in an SUV right on my tail while I’m already doing 10 over or I have someone driving THE EXACT speed limit, or under, in front of me and can’t take the hint that there are a trail of about 20 cars behind them, to pull over to the side of the road while we all pass them,  or the fat cow who drives slowleyin front of me and then speeds up when she see's me trying to pass her make me clench the steering wheel tight.

- Getting lost.  I’m horrible if I don’t have EXACT directions.  “And…um…I think you go…is it left?  Or right?  No…right!  Then you keep going for…about two…maybe five blocks…”, is NOT good directions!!!!!

- Bullies.  As a kid I came across many of them.  And sometimes as an adult I still do. Whether is was the kid who picked on others on the playground to cover up whatever drama that was going on in his own home or the loudmouth drunk who shoves others around in a bar trying to start something so he can placate his machismo or impress his skeezy girlfriend, both will someday come across someone, bigger and stronger than themselves.

More general griping and negativity to come.  Have a nice day.
