Luke Chap 17:11 to 19

Yeshua Cleanses the Ten Lepers

  1. It happened as he was on his way to Yerushalayim, that he was passing along the borders of Shomron and the Galilee.
  2. As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him, who stood far away.
  3. They lifted up their voices, saying, "Yeshua, Master, have mercy on us!"
  4. When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the Kohanim." It happened, as they went, they were cleansed.
  5. One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.
  6. He fell on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. He was a Shomroni.
  7. Yeshua answered, "Weren't the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?
  8. Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this stranger?"
  9. He said to him, "Get up, and go your way. Your faith has healed you."

Ten Lepers Cleansed

Jewish Pilgrimage from Galilee to Yerushalayim .

A popular route passed directly through Shomron. However, some pious Jews took an alternate route through Jericho to avoid Shomron. They "stood far away" means they kept their distance from people, as was specified in the Torah (Lev. 13:46; Num. 5:2, 3). Whoever is cured of leprosy must, according to the Torah, be declared clean by the Kohanim (Lev. 14:2).

Leprosy in the Bible speaks of sin as

  1. becoming overt in loathsome ways;
  2. as incurable by human means.

The anti-type as applied to the people of God is "sin," demanding self-judgment (1 Cor 11:31); and "sins," demanding confession and cleansing (1 John 1:9).

The lesson here we learn that the other 9 lepers were not thankful. This is the sin of unthankfulness. Have we anything in our life that we forgot thank our Lord Yeshua. Remember count our blessing and name them one by one.
