Malkut Shamayim (Heaven) is the destined Home for all Yahweh (HaShem)'s redeemed people, yet most of us are quite ignorant of what Heaven really is like, or what will happen once we get there. It is necessary for us therefore to get ourselves familiar with our future home so that we will not be taken by surprised.

The word "Heaven" gives us an impression of that beautiful images of bliss and supreme happiness and peace in our mind, but really the Biblical concept of Heaven is much more that what we understand.

In the Scriptural explanation there are 3 "Heavens" seen from man's viewpoint.

  1. The First Heaven, namely the sky or firmament, that which greets our eys as we look upwards and behold the clouds. (Jeremiah 4:25, and Daniel 4:12) Scientifically, this first Heaven is subdivided into Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere (Ionosphere) and Exosphere.
  2. The Second Heaven, commonly known as the "Universe", "deep space" or "cosmos". This is where the sun, moon, stars, Milky Way and galaxies are placed. (Gen 22:17, Psalm 19:1)
  3. The Third Heaven, also know as Paradise. This the place where our Tribune Yahweh (HaShem) and the Kodesh (holy) angel lives. (2 Cor 12:2, 1 Kings 8:27, 30 Matt 6:9)

 

How can one have access to heaven?

When your soul leaves your physical body. (At Death)

The moment a believer dies, his soul goes to be with the Lord, in Heaven (2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; Heb 9:24) which is also called Paradise (2 Cor 12:2,4).

One can only have access to Heaven by means of salvation through the Messiah's redeeming blood by death at Calvary. There were two particularly incident in the Tanakh times there was the translation of Enoch and Elijah, but these were anticipatory of their subsequent atonement by the Messiah's death) During the pre-rapture era, physical death will result in the ascent of the soul into Heaven.

At the Rapture our bodies (dead and living) will be resurrected or translated and caught up to Heaven (1 Thess 4:13-18). Souls which today are with the Lord will receive new bodies called "resurrection body". Living believers will have their bodies changed into "glorified bodies" (1 Cor 15:51-53)

Events After the Rapture

The Judgement Seat of Messiah is known as the Podium (Bema in Greek). This judgement is not judicial, but really a review of our works and conduct during our earthly life. This judgement mercifully will be private and personal.

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev 19)

The Congregation as the Spiritual Bride, this event will be witnessed by Yahweh (HaShem) the HA'AV (Father) and the Angels, Redeemed Jews and Redeemed Gentiles.

While these events take place above in Heaven, the Earth below will suffer the terrible Great Tribulation years through to Armageddon before the 1,000 year golden era of the Millennium is ushered in by our Lord Y'SHUA HAMASHIACH. After this utopia comes to rude end with Hasatan (Satan) 's final revolt and his subsequent disposal, the old Earth and Heavens will be destroyed and there will be created a new Heaven and a new Earth and emergence of the heavenly city, New Jerusalem. However, the Heaven where Yahweh (HaShem) dwells is eternal and unchanging, and not involved in this destruction.

New Jerusalem (Rev 21:16)

This will also be the eternal dwelling place of saints of all ages, but is not Heaven itself.

  1. The shape of this city will be unique, being founded on a square base and an equal height of 1,500 miles. This makes it either a cube or a pyramid.
  2. Assuming a cube, its volume will be 2.7 billion cubic miles, more enough to accommodate spaciously the approximately 60 billion people who have lived on this present earth since creation.
  3. This celestial city will be populated by

    4. i The Messianic or Bride of Messiah

    ii Redeemed Yisrael (Heb 11;11) and the Redeemed from Adam to Abraham.

    iii The Kodesh (holy) Compound Unity (Rev 4:2.3. Rev 5:6 Rev 14:13, Rev 22:17, Daniel 7:9)

  4. The City will be laid upon 12 layers of Foundations (Rev 21:14), each consisting of a precious stone (and with the name of an apostle). Jasper, Sapphire, Chalcedony, Emerald, Sadonyx, Sardius, Chriysolite, Beryl, Topaz, Chrysophase, Jacinth, amethyst.
    5. (Compare with the Breastplate of High priest garment)
  5. This City will be surrounded by a wall of Jasper, 216 feet high (Rev 21:17, 18). Being such, it is more ornamental than protective.
  6. There are 12 gates to the city -3 gates at each of the 4 sides, each side with the name of a tribe of Yisrael. Each of the gates is composed of a solid white pearl (Rev 21:12, 13,21)
  7. The streets will be paved with pure transparent gold ("heavenly gold") (Rev 21:21)
  8. There will be a River of Life in the city (Rev 22:1; Psalm 46:4).
  9. There will be a Tree of Life in the city (Rev 22:2). This tree is the same tree at the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:9) now reappearing in the New Jerusalem.
  10. Nature of Resurrected Bodies in New Jerusalem. - They will be glorified bodies (Like the Lord's body) (Phil 3:21; 1 John 3:1-3) consisting of flesh and bone (Luke 24:39,40) and can transcend time, space and gravity (John 20:19; Luke 24:31,36) and will be recognizable (Matt 8:11; Luke 16:23; 1 Cor 13:12) and eternal (2 Cor 5:1) as well as "spiritual" (1 Cor 15:44,49)
  11. There will not be need for light in the New Jerusalem. The Lord's Presence brings light.
  12. There will be no need for a Ha Mikdash (Temple). The Lord G_d and the Lamb are the Temple.

  3. Service (Rev 7:15,22:3)
  4. Learning about Yahweh (HaShem)
