Shemot 12

:øîàì íéøöî õøàá ïøäà-ìàå äùî-ìà äåäé øîàéå

va yo mer y'ho va el-mo she v'el-a ha ron b'e rets mits ra yim le mor:

And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying:

 

:äðùä éùãçì íëì àåä ïåùàø íéùãç ùàø íëì äæä ùãçä

ha kho desh ha ze la khem rosh kho da shim ri shon hu la khem l'khad shei ha sha na:

This month shall be unto you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.

:úéáì äù úáà-úéáì äù ùéà

dab ru el-kol-a dat yis ra el le mor be a sor la kho desh ha ze v'yik khu la hem ish se l'veit-a vot se la ba yit:

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying: In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household;

:äùä-ìò åñëú åìëà éôì ùéà úùôð úñëîá

v'im-yim at ha ba yit mih yot mi se v'la kakh hu u she khe no ha ka rov el-bei to b'mikh sat n'fa shot ish l'fi akh lo ta kho su al-ha se:

and if the household be too little for a lamb, then shall he and his neighbour next unto his house take one according to the number of the souls; according to every man's eating ye shall make your count for the lamb.

 

:åç÷ú íéæòä-ïîå íéùáëä-ïî íëì äéäé äðù-ïá øëæ íéîú äù

se ta mim za khar ben-sha na yih ye la khem min-ha ke va sim u min-ha i zim ti ka khu:

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; ye shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats;

 

åúà åèçùå äæä ùãçì íåé øùò äòáøà ãò úøîùîì íëì äéäå
:íéáøòä ïéá ìàøùé-úãò ìä÷ ìë

v'ha ya la khem l'mish me ret ad ar ba a a sar yom la kho desh ha ze v'sha kha tu o to kol k'hal a dat-yis ra el bein ha ar ba yim:

and ye shall keep it unto the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at dusk.

 

íéúáä ìò óå÷ùîä-ìòå úæåæîä éúù-ìò åðúðå íãä-ïî åç÷ìå
:íäá åúà åìëàé-øùà

v'lak khu min-ha dam v'nat nu a lo-sh'tei ha me zu zot v'al-ha mash kof al ha ba tim a sher-yokh lu o to ba hem:

And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel, upon the houses wherein they shall eat it.

 

:åäìëàé íéøøî-ìò úåöîå ùà-éìö äæä äìéìá øùáä-úà åìëàå

v'akh lu et-ha ba sar ba lai la ha ze ts'li-esh u ma tsot al-m'ro rim yokh lu hu:

And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

 

åùàø ùà-éìö-íà éë íéîá ìùáî ìùáå àð åðîî åìëàú-ìà
:åáø÷-ìòå åéòøë-ìò

al-tokh lu mi me nu na u va shel m'vu shal ba ma yim ki im-ts'li-esh ro sho al-k'ra av v'al-kir bo:

Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its legs and with the inwards thereof.

 

:åôøùú ùàá ø÷á-ãò åðîî øúðäå ø÷á-ãò åðîî åøéúåú-àìå

v'lo-to ti ru mi me nu ad-bo ker v'ha no tar mi me nu ad-bo ker ba esh tis ro fu:

And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

 

íëì÷îå íëéìâøá íëéìòð íéøâç íëéðúî åúà åìëàú äëëå
:äåäéì àåä çñô ïåæôçá åúà íúìëàå íëãéá

v'kha kha tokh lu o to mat nei khem kha gu rim na a lei khem b'rag lei khem u ma kel khem b'yed khem va a khal tem o to b'khi pa zon pe sakh hu la ye ho va:

And thus shall ye eat it: with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste--it is the LORD'S passover.

:äåäé éðà íéèôù äùòà íéøöî éäìà-ìëáå äîäá-ãòå íãàî

v'a var ti v'e rets-mits ra yim ba lai la ha ze v'hi kei ti khol-b'khor b'e rets mits ra yim me a dam v'ad-b'he ma u ve khol-e lo hei mits ra yim e e se sh'fa tim a ni y'ho va:

For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the LORD.

:íéøöî õøàá éúëäá úéçùîì óâð íëá äéäé-àìå íëìò éúçñôå

v'ha ya ha dam la khem l'ot al ha ba tim a sher a tem sham v'ra i ti et-ha dam u fa sakh ti a le khem v'lo-yih ye va khem ne gef l'mash khit b'ha ko ti b'e rets mits ra yim:

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

v'ha ya ha yom ha ze la khem l'zi ka ron v'kha go tem o to khag la ye ho va l'do ro tei khem khu kat o lam t'kha gu hu:

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial, and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

shiv at ya mim ma tsot to khe lu akh ba yom ha ri shon tash bi tu s'or mi ba tei khem ki kol-o khel kha mets v'nikh r'ta ha ne fesh ha hiv mi yis ra el mi yom ha ri shon ad-yom ha she vi i:

Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; howbeit the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses; for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

u va yom ha ri shon mik ra-ko desh u va yom ha she vi i mik ra-ko desh yih ye la khem kol-m'la kha lo-ye a se va hem akh a sher ye a khel l'khol-ne fesh hu l'va do ye a se la khem:

And in the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.

 

íëéúåàáö-úà éúàöåä äæä íåéä íöòá éë úåöîä-úà íúøîùå
:íìåò ú÷ç íëéúøãì äæä íåéä-úà íúøîùå íéøöî õøàî

u she mar tem et-ha ma tsot ki b'e tsem ha yom ha ze ho tse ti et-tsiv o tei khem me e rets mits ra yim u she mar tem et-ha yom ha ze l'do ro tei khem khu kat o lam:

And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; therefore shall ye observe this day throughout your generations by an ordinance for ever.

:áøòá ùãçì íéøùòå

ba ri shon b'ar ba a a sar yom la kho desh ba e rev tokh lu ma tsot ad yom ha e khad v'es rim la kho desh ba a rev:

In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

 

äúøëðå úöîçî ìëà-ìë éë íëéúáá àöîé àì øàù íéîé úòáù
:õøàä çøæàáå øâá ìàøùé úãòî àåää ùôðä

shiv at ya mim s'or lo yi ma tse b'va tei khem ki kol-o khel makh me tset v'nikh r'ta ha ne fesh ha hiv me a dat yis ra el ba ger u ve ez rakh ha a rets:

Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses; for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a sojourner, or one that is born in the land.

 

:úåöî åìëàú íëéúáùåî ìëá åìëàú àì úöîçî-ìë

kol-makh me tset lo to khe lu b'khol mo osh vo tei khem tokh lu ma tsot:

Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.'

:çñôä åèçùå íëéúçôùîì ïàö

va yik ra moshe l'khol-zik nei yis ra el va yo mer a le hem mish khu u ke khu la khem tson l'mish p'kho tei khem v'sha kha tu ha pa sakh:

Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them: 'Draw out, and take you lambs according to your families, and kill the passover lamb.

-çúôî ùéà åàöú àì íúàå óñá øùà íãä-ïî úæåæîä éúù-ìàå
:ø÷á-ãò åúéá

u le kakh tem a gu dat e zov u te val tem ba dam a sher-ba saf v'hi ga tem el-ha mash kof v'e lo-sh'tei ha me zu zot min-ha dam a sher ba saf v'a tem lo tets u ish mi pe takh-bei to ad-bo ker:

And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side-posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

 

ìòå óå÷ùîä-ìò íãä-úà äàøå íéøöî-úà óâðì äåäé øáòå
-ìà àáì úéçùîä ïúé àìå çúôä-ìò äåäé çñôå úæåæîä éúù
:óâðì íëéúá

v'a var y'ho va lin gof et-mits ra yim v'ra a et-ha dam al-ha mash kof v'al sh'tei ha me zu zot u fa sakh y'ho va al-ha pe takh v'lo yi ten ha mash khit la vo el-ba tei khem lin gof:

For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side-posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

 

:íìåò-ãò êéðáìå êì-÷çì äæä øáãä-úà íúøîùå

u she mar tem et-ha da var ha ze l'khak-l'kha u le va nei kha ad-o lam:

And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

 

íúøîùå øáã øùàë íëì äåäé ïúé øùà õøàä-ìà åàáú-éë äéäå
:úàæä äãáòä-úà

v'ha ya ki-ta vo u el-ha a rets a sher yi ten y'ho va la khem ka a sher di ber u she mar tem et-ha a vo da ha zot:

And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as He hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

 

:íëì úàæä äãáòä äî íëéðá íëéìà åøîàé-éë äéäå

v'ha ya ki-yom ru a lei khem b'nei khem ma ha a vo da ha zot la khem:

And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you: What mean ye by this service?

 

ìàøùé-éðá éúá-ìò çñô øùà äåäéì àåä çñô-çáæ íúøîàå
:ååçúùéå íòä ã÷éå ìéöä åðéúá-úàå íéøöî-úà åôâðá íéøöîá

va a mar tem ze vakh-pe sakh hu la ye ho va a sher pa sakh al-ba tei v'nei-yis ra el b'mits ra yim b'nag po et-mits ra yim v'et-ba tei nu hi tsil va yi kod ha am va yish ta kha vu:

that ye shall say: It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, for that He passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when He smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses.' And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

va yel khu va ya a su b'nei yis ra el ka a sher tsi va y'ho va et-mo she v'a ha ron ken a su:

And the children of Israel went and did so; as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

The Future passover sacrifice

Ezekiel say that in a future time, eventualy after the Messiah returns, animal sacrifices will be once more offered

"Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel." (Ezek 44:9 KJV)

"And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went astray, which went astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity." (Ezek 44:10 KJV) Ezek 44:10: 2 Ki 23:8; cp. 2 Chr 29:4 - 5

"Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them." (Ezek 44:11 KJV)

"Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity." (Ezek 44:12 KJV) Ezek 44:12: Isa 9:16

"And they shall not come near unto me, to do the office of a priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, in the most holy place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed." (Ezek 44:13 KJV) Ezek 44:13: 2 Ki 23:9

"And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within." (Ezek 44:17 KJV) Ezek 44:17: Exo 28:39 - 43; 39:27 - 29

"They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat." (Ezek 44:18 KJV)

"And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments; and they shall not sanctify the people with their garments." "And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest's: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house." (Ezek 44:30 KJV)
