A prince, a bishop and a statesman, Petar Petrovic Njegos (1813-51) often sought solace and inspiration in Montenegro's mountains. At the summit of Mount Lovcen, twenty kilometers away from Cetinje, there is a mausoleum of Prince Njegos. The place offers a breathtaking view of Montenegro's mountains and coast, and there is also a gigantic sculpture of Njegos by artist Ivan Mestrovic. There are 461 steps to the top of Lovcen.
