With a population of about 300,000 people, Nis (pronounced 'Nish')
is the largest city in Southern Serbia, and second only to Belgrade.
Nis is an important industrial hub in present Yugoslavia. As I asked
for directions to reach Cela Kula, I was told to take a bus, though I
chose to take the 15 min. walk down the boulevar where I encountered
this appartment block. The city has never been that touristy, though
it has a lively town centre (like almost all cities in Serbia) with a horse
statue that reminded me of Trg Republike in Beograd. There is also a
large park complex with museums and an Old fortress (Tvrdava) where
people like to promenade.
