The first thing you need to know of course, is about this 'we' thing.  You will notice that throughout these pages I use the word "we" - and there is a reason.  We (there I go again) entited our website "Ruth & Anita's Webspace" for a reason...  For that is who we are! Ruth & Anita.  Ah... but now you ask... who is the "I" part of the "we" that is Ruth & Anita?!  Okay - maybe you wouldn't ask that in exactly that way...

I am Anita of Ruth & Anita's Webspace.  I am the one who uploads the pictures and the family tree info and so on... and yes I lapse into using "I" when writing some of the content.... But! The fact is that everything here -- home, garden, research, family -- is at the very least a joint effort with my mother, Ruth.

The We's and I's of It
About Ruth
When Ruth married the young man named George Runge from Chicago, Illinois she made it clear that she could never be happy too far from her family and her home in the South.  From there they went on to make a family and a home and a business of their own in Gulfport, Mississippi - just forty or so miles from her hometown of Pascagoula.

Ruth and George created many fine things together: Four daughters - all grown with families of their own now; A thriving business that was their livelihood for 36 years; two beautiful homes - made so with the combination of George's woodworking and landscaping skills and Ruth's decorating and gardening talents; and, best of all, the kind of marriage that most people only dream of.

Ruth lost George to an inoperable brain tumor in December of 1999 - a devastating blow coming only a few short years after a previous battle with
non-Hodgkins Lymphoma was won.

Ruth now lives in her hometown of Pascagoula and shares a home with her daughter Anita and family.  She writes poetry now to help her deal with her loss.
We aren't done!

About Anita
Anita and her husband, Dave, make their home in Pascagoula, Mississippi with their three children and Anita's mother. After years of trying to balance raising children with a full-time job, Anita is relieved to be a stay-at-home Mom. In between making snacks, changing diapers, and trying to find a pair of matching socks - she manages to find time for a few hobbies. Gardening has always been a favorite in the cooler spring and fall, while summer and winter lend themselves to indoor activities such as family research and fiddling around on the computer.

Anita also loves home improvement projects and must be constantly supervised by her mother and husband or else she may start knocking out walls when no one is looking. She would love to channel her creative spirit into something more artistic someday, but seldom finds an excuse to do so. However, she is stockpiling art supplies in the meantime -- just in case.
Anita has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. This may not be the case for all Political Science majors -- but Anita was naturally inclined to the field... Meaning - she loves to talk.. loves for others to hear her talk... and loves to hear herself talk. A career in politics may have fallen by the wayside for now - but hey - she's still young.

In the meantime, you might find a few essays around the site on such subjects as divorce, religion, politics, internet dating, domestic violence and abuse, and a few other topics.

Engaging, honest, full of deep emotion, unassuming, and always optimistic - her poetry is much like the woman herself.
