"Amongst the enterprising manufacturer's of this section, the subject of our sketch is justly ranked.

Mr. Hudson is engaged in the manufacturing of Mineral Waters, Pops in all its syrups, and Soda Water, Cider, and Vinegar. He also makes the best of laundry soap. The products of his factory are shipped all along the Gulf Coast.

Mr. Hudson in competition the other day with New Orleans and Biloxi concerns secured the contract for supplying the railroads between Hattiesburg and Gulfport and between Hattiesburg and New Orleans with mineral drinks. He was for four years Superintendent of the Pascagoula Ice Manufacturing Co."

Mr. Charles Hunt Hudson was born November 29, 1861 in the town of Louisville, Mississippi in Winston County.  Grandpa Clark had told my mother that Charles' father's name was "Robert Hudson" and his mother was "Emmaline Woodruff".  We have never found the elusive "Robert" but instead ran across a blacksmith by the name of William B. Hudson up in Winston County who fits the description. Unfortunately, that is as far as we have gotten.

The 1880 Census finds Charles Hudson as well as his brother, Edward Franklin Hudson in Scranton Mississippi.  In May and October of 1885, respectively, the two brothers married two sisters from New Orleans.
(top) Amelie Pauline Santo Domingo (1871-1962) of New Orleans married Charles Hudson on May 11, 1885 in Jackson County, Mississippi.

(right) Mr. Hudson and one of his soda manufacturing contraption-things. I have no idea what it was or what it did but it looks complicated.

And of course it always goes both ways -- we are always glad to share whatever we have with our cousins -- just send an email and tell us what you need.
