Sephiroth and his Dachshund

Chapter Two

Disclaimer: I don’t own FFVII. I wish I did. -_- Square Enix, or Squaresoft, or whatever the hell it is, owns it. Yay….. That’s really exciting, isn’t it?

Sephiroth walked in, only to realize it was completely dark. He turned on the light, and looked around. He saw the Mako containers glowing faintly, and the tables with all sorts of things on it, but he didn’t see Hojo. Was he supposed to meet him somewhere else other than the lab….? He thought. He then panicked. Did Hojo somehow find out about Seraphim?! He ran out of the lab, and then went to his room.

Whenever he reached his room, he was gasping for air. No one was there, but that wasn’t enough reason to relax just yet. He went to his closet, and opened the door. Sephiroth then sighed in relief. Seraphim was still there, safe and sound. She immediately started wagging her tail, and then she licked him. He grinned. Her patted her, and then closed the door and went back to the lab.

This time, he walked slowly to the laboratory, suspecting Hojo still wasn’t back. He sat down in a chair outside of the door, and waited for Hojo to come. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, Hojo came within five minutes. He smirked as he noticed Sephiroth. “I have some terrific news for you!” Hojo said maniacally, as if he had gained something of high value. Sephiroth looked at Hojo with an, ‘Are you okay?’ look, and then walked inside of the laboratory.

Hojo turned to look at Sephiroth, his smirk growing even wider. “I have been promoted!” He said triumphantly. Sephiroth blinked. The only position higher than what He was….. was head scientist, the position which Professor Gast held-or, if He was telling the truth-used to hold. “How?!” Sephiroth said. Hojo looked straight at him. “Professor Gast was disposed of, by me and a few Shinra Guards. Now, I won’t have to worry about him interfering with my experiments! Now he can’t save you from anything, my one-winged-angel!” He suddenly burst into insane laughter.

Sephiroth blinked. “His one-winged-angel…..?” He whispered to himself, wondering what he meant by that. He then thought about all he had said. “Disposed of…..” Sephiroth was pretty sure that meant he murdered him in some cruel way. Professor Gast had always been nice to him, very much unlike him. Gast sometimes took Sephiroth to places he thought normal children would go to, such as ice-cream shops and such. Gast had once even taken him to the Gold Saucer, without Hojo knowing. Sephiroth was smart enough not to tell him. To Sephiroth’s surprise, a single teardrop slid down his face, which fell to the floor and splattered. Sephiroth blinked, and looked at Hojo to see if he noticed. Luckily, he didn’t. He was far to busy doing some kind of odd victory dance of some sort. Sephiroth stared. “Erm….. Professor?” Sephiroth said cautiously, weary of what Hojo might say. However, he ignored him.

Sephiroth slowly started to back out of the room. “Don’t you even think of leaving this room now Sephiroth!” Hojo said, a slightly humored touch in his voice. Sephiroth sighed, “I wasn’t Sir.” Sephiroth told him, rather quickly. Hojo grinned. “Yes, I’m sure. Also, did I forget to tell you there is going to be a dance in my honor?” Sephiroth shrugged. “Why does that matter to me……?” He said, rolling his eyes. Hojo laughed. “It matters because you are coming along. Things are going to be much more different with me around, instead of that abominable Gast.” He chuckled a bit. “Yes….. much different…..” Hojo glanced at Sephiroth, seeing if he would do some kind of smart comeback. When he didn’t, Hojo continued. “Oh, and I forgot to tell you. You must find some kind of date for yourself, and dance a bit. I can’t let you just sit around and do nothing at all. And it would be good SOLDIER training, they have many dances to celebrate victories and such.” Hojo stopped and turned around, his back to Sephiroth. “You are dismissed.” Hojo said, rather seriously. Sephiroth quickly walked out the door, and went to his room, without looking back.

Once Sephiroth reached his room, he checked to make sure no one was around, closed the door, and let Seraphim out. She was really happy, so happy in fact, she peed on the floor. Sephiroth groaned, but cleaned it up without much complaining. He liked being missed, he never knew anyone who actually cared for him as much as his puppy did. The feeling was rather new to him. He sat on the floor and played with her a bit. She was very hyper, and it seemed like she had never ending energy. Sephiroth played with her for a few hours, until he finally said, “I think it’s time to go to sleep now….” The dog jumped on the bed, and wagged her tail, waiting for him. He stood up, went and grabbed his clothes out of the closet, got changed, and went to sleep, Seraphim at the bottom of the bed, lightly snoring.
