PROPHET MOHAMMAD (S.A.W) SPEECH

By: Zehra Nasirali

“Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad.  As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we  may well ask, is there any man greater than he?” such is the quote of Lamartine.

Good afternoon Mr. Buck and classmates,

In the wake of the 7th century of the Christian era, a youthful man in the prime of his life could be seen walking in the streets of Mecca deep in his own thoughts, yet with a gentle smile, never forgetting to return the salutations of the lowliest, or to pause and speak a few kind words to the children who flocked around him.

This young man with deep wistful eyes and a sweet gentle disposition was sensitive to human sufferings.  He carried with him an air of nobility and grace that inspired love and respect amongst his kinsmen. In those days he was known as Amin- the truthful and the trusted.  Classmates, the man who I am referring to is

MUHAMMAD, the Prophet of Islam.

Prophet ~ (PBUH) was the last messenger of All-h (the Eternal Lord).  Like all other prophets, his duty was to guide mankind on the right path. To bring them out of the darkness of error and ignorance and into the light of truth and knowledge. Revelations from Heaven were also delivered to him.  The collection of these messages was called the Holy Quran.  All the laws, commandments and prohibitions of Islam are enshrined in the Quran.  With this Holy Book and the preaching of the Prophet,

the promise of Allah to mankind was completed, the perfection of the true religion.

Islam teaches that all men are brothers; it emphasizes on the equality of all men.  The prophet practiced this by eating with the poor, dressing humbly, taking turns in doing duties with his own servants, halting the traditions of burying girls alive and unity among families and brotherhood.  It has been recorded that he has said, “Togetherness is a source of goodness while separation is a source of misery.”

The primary spirit behind many Islamic rules is to replace injustice, pride, tyranny, oppression and exploitation with love and obedience to All-h and to promote unity among people.  The prophet was praiseworthy of these moral virtues.  He set an example via congregational prayers, the annual pilgrimage, charity to the needy and as micro as eating together.  A saying goes by:  Just a smile is an act of charity.

This is what Islam is all about; the creed of Peace- Peace through surrender to All-h.  The Almig-ty has sent down 124,000 messengers to guide man and the Prophet Muhammad is the seal of Prophethood.  What does that tell you?  It means that the prophet should be our role model, it means that his personality should be our goal, it means that he is a witness and bringer of good tidings, it means that he is the last reminder of good virtue. The Prophet (PBUH) is a lamp that gives light and even though he has left the temporal world, the Message he brought to mankind still remains and shall remain forever.
