Sweat trickles down Ben’s neck

His heart pounds like a drum

Popping eyes and face red as a cherry

Biting and moistening his lips continuously

Shoulders bent in low esteem

Timidly, he reacts self-consciously

Wearing a worried face, he bites his nails.

His tall, lean and lanky body trembles in fright

To see his confident opponent
Display his muscular might.

Proud as a peacock

Frank looks at Ben disdainfully

With an upturned nose and a crew cut

He reveals his body to a group of hooting girls

Gratified, he models in his red Nike spandex.

Time has come; the midget sprinters are ready on track.

While puddles of sweat gather, steel muscles tighten.

The whistle is sounded… the thundering takeoff.

THUD! Fit as a fiddle Frank slips on his untied shoelace.
Spraining his ankle, Ben the nervous wreck is made to win!
