ACUPRESSURE
Written By: Zehra Nasirali
Acupressure is a simple, oriental
massage. Particular points of the body
are pressed with fingers to ease aches, pains, tensions, fatigue and symptoms
of disease. These points are about 800
in number. They are located at specific
places in the body’s skin and muscular system where the nerves hurt or they
feel uncomfortable and the low of energy through the body is blocked. Therefore, acupressure, which comes under
the study of ‘Reflexology’, helps other patients to circulate their energy
again and to relieve them of pain.
Acupressure points are located along
specific pathways all over the body.
These are also called “meridian lines”, which are fourteen channels
through which the body’s energy flows.
These meridians pass through t many parts of the body and connect the
vital organs. This is why a
“long-distance treatments” or pressing a point far from the location of the
pain is effective.
Like acupuncture, acupressure also
when skillfully performed, can relieve many kinds of chronic problems,
disabling aches and pains. The best
part about acupressure is that it leaves no side effects and the results are
long lasting.
Three meridians run up the outer
hands. Another three run down the inner
hands. All these six pass through the
wrist.
The ear contains tiny acupressure
points, which correspond to every part and organ of the body. Pressing these points on the ears will
balance and invigorate your whole system.
SOME HANDY POINTS:
·
If you
raise your bent elbow to an angle of 90 degrees from the body you will find an
indentation on the outside of the shoulder bone. Massage this point on both sides of the body in case of a stroke.
·
If the
left side of the middle nose body is pressed vigorously, it can stop an asthma
or heart attack.
DID YOU KNOW:
·
That
thirty-two pairs of nerves are fitted into the spine and each pair is connected
with a different organ in the body.
Massaging the spine sends healing currents to each organ and keeps them
in balance.
·
That
acupressure massage can balance your system in only 20 minutes.
Ideally, acupressure can be best used not to
cure disease but to maintain sound health, vitality, and stamina in the body,
to strengthen the internal organs and prevent energy getting blocked. There are acupressure points all over the
body: on the feet, the back, chest and all over the body including the
head. Even as a beginner, one will find
acupressure very effective in relieving the external symptoms of any diseases
as well as simple muscular aches and pains caused by tensions and fatigue. In general, one will find acupressure most
useful in raising the energy level and making you strong.
