Chamomile Fields Shampoo Recipe
This shampoo smells similar to apples. Chamomile is well known for its healing properties, is also very effective as a shampoo. It has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Either annual (Matricaria recutica) or perennial Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) species can be used.Note: I have not personally tried this recipe yet, but I posted it to share some recipes I've acquired while researching. If you decide to try this recipe, please email me and let me know how it turned out and how long the recipe keeps.
Ingredients:
- 4 bags of Chamomile tea (or 1 handful of fresh Chamomile flowers)
- 4 tablespoons pure soap flakes
- 1 1/2 tablespoons glycerin*
Directions:Let the tea bags steep in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and with the remaining liquid add the soap flakes. Let stand until the soap softens. Stir in glycerin until mixture is well blended. Pour into a bottle. Keep in a dark, cool place.
*Glycerin is a transparent sweet liquid, a by-product of soapmaking. Glycerin is used in many cosmetic products. It acts as a humectant, which means it retains moisture. You can purchase it at most drug stores or health food stores.
