[books]

i just finished my english lit a-level, a wonderful and momentous event, because i hated pretty much every moment of it. it hasn't stopped me from loving books though, thankfully. a few books i've read recently:

native tongue - carl hiaasen - hilarious, just like his other books. it involves a theme park, the mafia, a deceptively sweet old lady and several deaths. i read it on holiday in portugal.

snow falling on cedars - david guterson - a murder mystery novel, but one that is fantastically beautiful. it took me a while to start enjoying it, but it was worth it.

beloved - toni morrison - hmm, i started reading this about a month ago, but haven't finished it yet, partly because it frightens me too much to read at night. yes, i'm a fool. it's kind of intriguing, but not enough to make me want to read the rest. perhaps i will during this long summer.

the long dark teatime of the soul - douglas adams - i've read this several times before, but it's so damn funny and i love adams' style so much i had to again.
