A real friend doesn't have to.
A simple friend opens a conversation with a full news bulletin
on his life.
A real friend says, "What's new with you?"
A simple friend thinks the problems you whine about are recent.
A real friend says, "You've been whining about the same
thing for 14 years. Get off your duff and do something about it."
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to
help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an
argument.
A real friend knows that it's not a friendship until after
you've had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

1.
In kindergarten your idea of
a good friend was the person who let you have the red crayon when all that was
left was the ugly black one.
2. In first grade your idea
of a good friend was the person who went to the bathroom with you and held your
hand as you walked through the scary halls
3. In second grade your idea
of a good friend was the person who helped you stand up to the class bully
4. In third grade your idea
of a good friend was the person who shared their lunch with you when you forgot
yours on the bus
5. In fourth grade your
idea of a good friend was the person who was willing to switch square dancing
partners in gym so you wouldn't have to be stuck do-si-do-ing with Nasty Nicky
or Smelly Susan
6. In fifth grade your idea
of a friend was the person who saved a seat on the back of the bus for you
7. In sixth grade your idea
of a friend was the person who went up to Nick or Susan, your new crush, and
asked them to dance with you, sothat if they said no you wouldn't have to be
embarrassed.
8. In seventh grade your idea of a friend was the person who let
you copy the social studies homework
from the night before that you had
9. In eighth grade your
idea of a good friend was the person who helped you pack up your stuffed
animals and old baseball cards so that
your room would be a "high schooler's" room, but didn't laugh at
you when you finished and broke out
into tears
10. In ninth grade your idea
of a good friend was the person who went to that "cool" party thrown
by a senior so you wouldn't wind up being the only freshman there
11. In tenth grade your idea
of a good friend was the person who changed their schedule so you would have
someone to sit with at lunch
12. In eleventh grade your
idea of a good friend was the person who gave you rides in their new car,
convinced your parents that you shouldn't be grounded, consoled you when you
broke up with Nick or Susan, and found you a date to the prom
13. In twelfth grade your
idea of a good friend was the person whohelped you pick out a college, assured
you that you would get into that college, helped you deal with your parents who
were having a hard time adjusting to the idea of letting you go
14. At graduation your idea
of a good friend was the person who was
crying on the inside but managed the biggest smile one could give as
they congratulated you
15. The summer after twelfth
grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you clean up the
bottles from that party, helped you sneak out of the house when you just
couldn't deal with your parents, assured you that now that you and Nick or you
and Susan were back together, you could make it through anything, helped you
pack up for college and just silently hugged you as you looked through blurry
eyes at 18 years of memories you were leaving behind, and finally on those last
days of childhood, went out of their way to give you reassurance that you would
make it in college as well as you had these past 18 years, and most importantly
sent you off to college knowing you were loved
16. Now, your idea of a good
friend is still the person who gives you the better of the two choices, hold
your hand when you're scared, helps you fight off those who try to take
advantage of you, thinks of you at times when you are not there, reminds you of
what you have forgotten, helps you put the past behind you but understands when
you need to hold on to it a little longer, stays with you so that you have
confidence, goes out of their way to make time for you, helps you clear up your
mistakes, helps you deal with pressure from others, smiles for you when they
are sad, helps you become a better person, and most importantly loves you!

Friendship is a strange thing..
we find ourselves telling each other the deepest details of our
lives
things we don't even share with the families who raised us
but what is a friend? a confidant? a lover? a shoulder to cry on? an ear to listen? a
heart to feel?
A friend is all of these...and more.
No matter where we met, no matter how long we've been
together... I call you friend.
A word so small, yet so large in feeling, a word filled with
emotion, a word overflowing with love.
Truly great things come in small packages.
Once the package of friendship has been opened, it can never be
closed.
It is a constant book always waiting...waiting to be read....and
enjoyed
We may have our disagreements.......we may have our
disappointments......
we may argue.. we may concern one another ...friendship is a
unique bond that
lasts through all
tribulations. A part of each of us
goes into our friendships ...
our humor...our experiences...our tears. Friendships are
foundations...necessary for life
...and love. Friends...you and me... you brought another friend
and then there were three
...we started our group...our circle of friends.... there is no begining....
there is no end even though i dont speak to you all everyday....
or even as often as i would like to you have all crossed my path
of life in one way or another......
some of you I've only bumped into.......some have walked a while
with me......
and some of you will continue to walk with me...........
but dont ever think for a second that since we arent in constant
contact....
that i dont think of you .....because if it wasnt for coming
across all of you....
who knows........i would be a completely different
person............ and...well.........
im happy how I've turned out so far................thank
you........ Keep this going...
mail it to all you friends....mail it to those you never met....
those you have and those you have lost along the way...
"You never really leave a place you love -Part of it you
take with you- leaving a part of yourself behind."

>> The Color of Friendship>>>>
Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed
that they were the best; the most important, the most useful,
the favorite
GREEN said: “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of
life and of hope. I was
chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals
would die.
Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the
majority."
BLUE interrupted: "You only think about the earth, but
consider the sky and the sea. It is
the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds
from the
deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my
peace, you
would all be nothing."
YELLOW chuckled:"You are all so serious. I bring laughter,
gaiety, and warmth into the
world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are
yellow. Every
time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile.
Without me
there would be no fun.”
ORANGE started next to blow her trumpet:
"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce,
but I am precious
for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important
vitamins.
Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I
don't hang
around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or
sunset, my
beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any
of you."
RED could stand it no longer, he shouted out: "I am the
ruler of all of you.
I am blood - life's blood! I bring fire into the blood. I am
willing to fight
for a cause. I am the color of danger and of bravery. Without
me, the earth
would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of
love, the
red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."
PURPLE rose up to his full height: He was very tall and spoke
with great
pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs,
and bishops have
always chosen me, for I am the sign of authority and wisdom.
People do not
question me! They listen and obey."
Finally INDIGO spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but
with just
as much determination:
"Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice
me, but without
me you all become superficial. I represent thought and
reflection, twilight
and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer
and inner>>peace."
So the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own
superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly
there was
a startling flash of bright lightening. Thunder rolled and
boomed.
Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down
in fear,
drawing close to one another for comfort. In the midst of the
clamor, rain
began to speak: “You foolish colors, fighting amongst
yourselves, each trying to dominate
the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special
purpose,
unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to
me."
Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands.
The rain continued:
"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch
across the sky in a
great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace.
The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow."
And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow
appears in the
sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.
To assume nothing makes us great. To assume greatness makes us
nothing

What I’ve
Learnt
I've learned - that you cannot make someone love you. All you
can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned - that no matter how much I care, some people just
don't care back.
I've learned - that it takes years to build up trust, and only
seconds to destroy it.
I've learned - that it's not what you have in your life but who
you have in your life that counts.
I've learned - that you can get by on charm for about fifteen
minutes. After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned - that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best
others can do. I've learned - that you can do something in an instant that will
give you heartache for life.
I've learned - that it's taking me a long time to become the
person I want to be.
I've learned - that you should always leave loved ones with
loving words.
It may be the last time you see them. I've learned - that you
can keep going long after you think you can't.
I've learned - that we are responsible for what we do, no matter
how we feel.
I've learned - that either you control your attitude or it
controls you.
I've learned - that regardless of how hot and steamy a
relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something
else to take its place. I've learned - that heroes are the people who do what
has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I've learned - that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned - that my best friend and I can do anything or
nothing and have the best time.
I've learned - that sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned - that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to
be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned - that true friendship continues to grow, even over
the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I've learned - that just because someone doesn't love you the
way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned - that maturity has more to do with what types of
experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with
how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned - that you should never tell a child their dreams
are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy
it would be if they believed it.
I've learned - that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological. I've learned - that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned - that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by
others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned - that no matter how bad your heart is broken the
world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned - that our background and circumstances may have
influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned - that just because two people argue, it doesn't
mean they don t love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't
mean they do.
I've learned - that we don't have to change friends > if we
understand that friends change.
I've learned -> that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a
>secret. It could change your life forever.
I've learned -> that two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different.
I've learned - that no matter how you try to protect your
children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.
I've learned -that your life can be changed in a matter of hours
by people who don t even know you.
I've learned -that even when you think you have no more to give,
when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned - that credentials on the wall do not make you a
decent human being.
I've learned - that the people you care most about in life are
taken from you too soon.
I've learned -that it's hard to determine where to draw the line
between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what
you believe>>

Value of TIME:
Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning
with
$86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every
evening deletes
whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What
would you do?
Draw out every cent, of course!!!! Each of us has such a bank. Its name
is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with
6,400 seconds. Every
night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed
to invest
to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no
overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the
remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the
loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the
"tomorrow".
You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so
as to
Get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success! The
clock is
running. Make the most of today.
To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a
grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth
to a premature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly
newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting
to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the
train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just
avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won
a silver medal in the Olympics.
Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more
because you shared it with someone special,
special enough to spend your time.
And remember that time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present!!
