He picked up the bowl of now soggy cereal and started eating. "How can you eat that?" I asked. "It's good" he said around a mouthfull of minature cookies. He picked up the box of the floor and stretched it towards me "Want some?" "No thanks." Chocolate chip cookies are not what I call breakfast. He poured more cereal into the bowl then looked into the box. "No prize" he said. "Are you sure you didn't eat it?" I asked. He thought about it for a moment. "Pretty sure" he said. He flipped the box over and read. "Oh, ya gotta send off for it." He looked up at me. "At least I didn't eat it." Oh yeah, that's good. How would I have explained to Dr. Lillian that he ate the prize out of the cereal box? Thank goodness for small miracles. I grabbed the remote off the end table and started flipping through the channels. "Hey I was watching that!" Nathaniel whined. "No you weren't you were eating cereal." Flashbacks of my step-brother Josh saying the same thing crossed my mind and I had to smile. My coffee cup was empty so I went for a refill. When I got back the Jerry Springer show was on. I went to grab the remote but Nathaniel begged me to leave it there. Said he and Jason watched Jerry every day. So I left it there and took comfort in my coffee. "If you or someone you know is involved in a love triangle and feel it's time to make a decision give us a call at 1-800-44-JERRY" the voice on tv said. I nearly choked on the coffee and ended up spilling some on myself, cursing at the hot liquid burning my hand. Nathaniel was laughing wildly in the middle of the floor.
