Road Trip Challenge: Part 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I awoke shivering in the chilled darkness, snuggling closer against the back of the body next to me. I breathed in the vanilla scent of his skin, wishing his hair was unbound so I could cover myself with it. I leaned up searching blindly for a much-needed blanket – I couldn’t sleep when I was cold, and body heat could only do so much. I flopped back down frustrated. The body beside me turned over and covered me with an arm and a leg. I felt another body down near my feet shift as well. “Hey!” I nearly shouted to get their attention. Muffled “Hmm”s and irritated “What”s answered me. “Who’s hogging all the blankets? It’s freezing in here.” “ZANE!” came the answer from three different directions. There was a startled jerking on the bed followed by a solid thump, as what I assumed was Zane fell off the bed. “Huh? What?” came his disoriented reply. Cherry’s voice came from near the end of the king size bed we occupied. “I swear I’m going to buy you a shirt that says ‘Does not share blankets well with others’. Then people would know not to sleep with you.” We all laughed and Zane redistributed the covers evenly across the bed. Contented and regaining my warmth, I snuggled deeper into the arms that held me and fell back asleep listening to the slow even breathing in the room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part 2 Index |
