Wanted: Chapter 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I awoke to blackness. “Aw sh*t. Not again,” I said softly into the night. I went over my usual checklist and passed with flying colors. That was always a good start. At least this time I knew who the hell I was. There was a small piece missing though. I couldn’t remember how I had gotten to where I was. I’d seen my amnesia doctor a couple of times for this kind of problem. Sometimes when I got into a high-stress or traumatic situation I would overload in a way and black out. This of course is not the best method of survival but it had only happened twice before and they were both Nathaniel’s fault. Ant they are both things we plan on doing again. But, as I also found out, the key to remembering is to stay calm and analyze the situation. Clouds moved across the sky revealing the light of the waning moon. I sat up painfully and took a deep breath. It caught in my throat. The smell of blood was thick in the air and the majority of it was coming from me. I raised my hands in front of my face. They were black with blood. I tasted it. Not mine. Not anyone’s that I had tasted before, which actually was very few. I looked around trying to find the source. I spotted it about twenty feet form me. A dark lump in the night. Not breathing whoever or whatever it was. I crawled over to it wincing at the sharp pains in my chest, back, and legs as I moved. The body was on its stomach and I could tell by its shape that it was a woman. I slowly reached over and turned the body over. I fell back in horror as I recognized the face and the damn on my memories came flooding back to me. I pulled myself together and ran to where I had hidden my car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 Index |
