Aromatherapy in brief

v     According to The New Guide To Remedies, p.70-125, Ancient Egypt made use of essential oils in bath and for massage. They also used the aromatic fragrances as a perfume for body and hair.

v     Ancient Rome and Greece also practiced the use of essential oils in curing infections.

v     A French Chemist, Rene Maurice Gattefosse, applied lavender oil onto his burnt hand and his hand healed faster than what he had predicted. This is when he started to study about essential oils and ‘Aromatherapie’ was introduced.

v     Scented candles, pomanders or potpourri are considered as weak oils if compared to the oils used by aromatherapist.  The essential oils used are very concentrated and volatile.

v     A plant's flowers, leaves, needles, branches, bark, berries, seeds, fruits, rind or roots are the basic ingredients in manufacture of the oils.

v     Essential oils are believed to have its own purpose e.g. Some reduce anxiety, some help to achieve good sleep, while others stimulate the body's immune system.

v     Do you know? “Alopecia areata is a condition in which the body's immune system attacks hair follicles”. Aromatherapy may helps!
