Get the blue ring and large shield as soon as possible. See Item List. The blue ring will cut your damage by one third. The large shield will deflect fireballs and sword laser blasts. Both items are extremely useful.
As soon as possible you must get the note for buying potions. In every dungeon always carry a red potion if you can.
Once you have 5 hearts, head for the cave on top of the waterfall to get the white sword, it hacks through baddies much better than that rubbish old wooden one you start off with.
Although it is tempting. Do not hit the old guys in the dungeons with your sword as they will send a barrage of fireballs at you.
Bomb rock walls around hyrule, sometimes you will find hidden caves.
Kill monsters rather then avoiding them, you need to have a constant stash of rupees.
Registering the name Zelda at the start of the game will allow you to play Quest 2 without completing Quest 1 first.
You must buy the blue candle from a shop before attempting Dungeon 4.
