Ruth's Poetry
After A Lifetime
After a lifetime of happiness and bliss Why do I sit pondering what went amiss?
My mind works overtime remembering All the good times All th strife That blended together to make a good life
One night, inspired, I surrendered my deceased loved one to God Then as though nudged gently, I turned to the living that I hold dear
The delightful smiling faces of my grandchildren made it clear In continuing to live I have nothing to fear

Amidst My Tears
Darling husband of forty years, I think of you often Amidst my tears
What a wonderful life we had, seldom sad Filled with happiness and laughter A grand couple we were, perfect for one another All this I remember amidst my tears
When our first child was born, the joy we felt, no trace of sorrow The plans we made for tomorrow
Closely followed child numbered two, and then three Triple blessings for you and me
Then came the baby; eight years later Our family complete We had four daughters. How neat!
Better than diamonds, silver and gold were these girls Like rare pearls All this I remember amidst my tears
Now you are gone I try not to mourn So I think happy thoughts amidst my tears

Dark Of Night
Sometimes in the night, I see the light Nothing distraught, just clarity of thought
I am not afraid of things that go "bump in the night" As my soul is enlightened by the Light
Our lives are so involved; Little time for a problem easily solved
The light of God is brilliant as He guides us on our way He is there with an answer for each and every day
Darkness usually invokes quiet; not disquiet A perfect time to hear God whisper to our heart "I am the Way, the Truth and the Light" "Follow Me" "I guarantee"
So when darkness falls Be not in dismay Let the Light show you the Way

And We Danced
He asked, "May I have this dance?" After a quick glance at blue eyes so unlike other guys I softly said, "Yes" and we danced The foxtrot, the jitterbug, a waltz And a badly done samba We were so smitten, the lovebug had bitten
We would dance when given the chance As we matured our steps improved Onlookers often approved The foxtrot was smooth, the jitterbug had rhythm And the waltz was romantic to see The samba was never to be
When the Lord took him home, I grieved but believed That we would dance once more as we had rapport
One night in a dream, I found myself on a dance floor As it was in days of yore Looking around I met his glance He soon asked, "May I have this dance?" And we danced and danced and danced...

Daydreams
At night I never seem to dream My dreams are doing my waking day Will explain if I may
A splendid imagination takes me places Solves all problems should they arise Never do I meet my demise
Like Cinderella I enter the ball In a great hall Trip and lose a glass shoe Boo! Hoo! What am I to do
Homeward bound with a red face Shame and a feeling of disgrace Who would ever perceive or believe The prince would bring the glass shoe to me Happily ever after would we be
Mirror, mirror on the wall Who is the fairest of all Snow White is said to be But she is me Don't you see?
Like Scarlett O'Hara My home is the fictional Tara Six white pillars, vines are the fillers Wisteria grows wild as it did at my Grandmother's when I was a child
Enter my world Where daydreams unfurl I promise you glee Cause to dream is free Don't you agree?

Fall
Fall is in the air Bursting into magnificent flair Leaves of red, rust and gold Yellow japanese maple that Can only be described as bold
The cool crisp air of a fall night is a delight Stars so bright illuminate the night Sparking the embers of a long ago September
Hark! A mournful coo Is it you? My turtle dove? What did you say? Not yet my love My work here is not through
Until then, each Fall When stars spark the embers of a long ago September At the timbre of your voice will I rejoice As you have heard my plea And remembered me!

Garden Of Delight
I often visualize Heaven's garden Vibrant flowers of every hue Foliage lush, emerald as the isle
Stone paths winding through breathtaking beauty Perfectly placed benches to contemplate the view Arbors bursting with roses Flowered vines reaching for the sky Fresh streams meandering in dense forest
Beautiful cardinals, bluebirds; perhaps a dove or two And because it's the ethereal world Adorable cherubs frolicking to and fro
Where senses are heightened Eyes to see unsurpassed beauty Nose inhaling tantalizing aromas Touch caressing the softest flower Taste savoring delicious fruits
Our perceptions are merely human As we have no conception Mortals have never seen this otherworld Imagination takes us there!
