Urquhart Castle is one of the largest of Scottish Castles, with a 500 plus year history as a medieval fortress and seeing many great battles and housing many families. |
It is said that in about AD 580 St. Columba himself converted it's then residence, (an elderly noble Pict named Emchath and his family and servants) into Christians. |
Urquhart Castle is now a Romantic ruin and a huge tourist attraction. The Castle is surrounded on 3 sides by Loch Ness. Most tourists who spend half their day at the Castle hope to catch a rare glimpse of the supposed Monster. |
