Up the California coast. Chilino Valley Road. The Givi box lets me leave my backpack at home.
I decided to install this Givi box on my 1993 CBR900RR when I saw a guy in Europe had done the same to his Suzuki SV650. He had just mounted the box on a universal plate to the rear seat of his bike. I bolted mine through the seat, then through the subframe for strength (the seat mounting hardware is a little flimsy). I have ridden 8k miles with all kinds of stuff jammed into the box and not had a problem yet. When I recently inspected the mounts all looked good. More photos coming soon.
This Superhawk was for sale on Ebay. It had an ideal sort of hardbag setup, I think. The tail section was notched out a lot to fit the bags in tight.

Here you can really see how the bodywork was cut away to make room for the bags and mounting hardware. I've been trying to figure out how to do this for my CBR.
This is a very nice looking tube-steel frame for a Givi case. This VFR800 has kits available for mounting bags in several different ways. It gets much more difficult when you have a bike where no kit exists.

Here are some sites that I have found on the Net that are helpful for those going into the luggage-unknown. Hope they help:

Greg's Nighthawk S page with custom hardbag install.

Honda Shadow custom Givi bag install.

Honda F4 with Givi bags.

Custom Honda Sabre.

Chase Harper bags: good stuff, though I don't own any.

RKA Luggage: Excellent soft bags. I have saddlebags and a tank bag from them.

Givi USA.

Adventure Moto Gear: a dealer on the net I have not used, but has good stuff.

Riderwearhouse: The best source for all kinds of riding gear. The maker of the ubiquitous Aerostich suit among many other great things.
