Canción que pertenece a MCIS. 1979 es considerado por muchos el mayor hit de los Pumpkins, ya que mucha gente que no conoce gran cosa del grupo, al menos saben que 1979 les pertenece.Billy comento lo siguiente para VH1 STORYTELLERS :" 1979 fue la ultima cancion escrita para MCIS yo realmente queria incluir esta cancion en el disco, asi que le pedi a Flood un poco mas de tiempo para poder trabajar en ella, y el me dijo que tenia 24 horas para tenerla completa, asi que fui a casa y al otro dia, al levantarme hize una version acustica la cual quedo grabada como un demo, basicamente quedo igual, y fue uno de esos momentos en donde sabes que es una cancion realmente especial. Mucha gente me ha preguntado que significa 1979, muchas veces cuando escribo una cancion trato de imaginarme una imagen, esta vez imagine cuando era un niño, conduciendo mi bicicleta hacia mi hogar, me encontraba feliz viendo llover y de repente me detenia en la luz roja del semaforo , y bueno eso es todo lo que recuerdo. Se que no suena muy glamuroso, sin embargo emocionalmente ese simple momento de esperar que algo suceda fue lo que me llevo a componer 1979".
