| REAL independent filmers don't have shit to work with, but they do it anyway. WANNABE indie film makers have great connections & lots of money. There's a whole crop of "indie" film companies popping up nowadays, and a lot of them are actually subsidiaries of giant corporate production houses, designed to give the public the illusion that they have gritty roots and are 'cool'. When indie film starting becoming a serious hard-hitting force in the late 80's/early 90's, the giant movie houses jumped on it as a possible way to save ticket sales that were declining because of home theaters & cable TV. That's NOT REAL independence. That's corporate marketing & scheming. The same type that brought punk rock into the mainstream & robbed it of it's soul & cultural value. indie=us "indie"=them. |

| Damn, you're cynical. Good call, but no. I personally have made more than 15 movies, but I'm only showing 3: the absolute worst, the absolute best, and my personal favorite. So far, it looks like there will be more than 4 times that many submissions, from people we've never met. |
| Well, there's me. My name's Mike. And there's my buddy Brandon, who I've been making movies, music, tv shows, & trouble with since around '92. And of course, there's Kris , who made sure this year's fest didn't fall apart. There's also Phantome Empire Productions, which is a wee little independent production company Brandon & I started a l-o-n-g time ago. It consists of us & a buncha other losers that don't have anything better to do than make crappy movies & find places to sleep. Aside from that, there's also the handful of people from across the country that are sending us movies to show & helping us get the word out. Like you, if you'd stop giving us the 3rd degree & send your movies in. |
