Best of Both Worlds in NYC
R. Kelly and Jay-Z held a press conference at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York to officially announce their once in a lifetime joint project "The Best of Both Worlds." The album, featuring production by the Trackmasters and R. Kelly, is the first time artists of such caliber have completed a 100% collaborative effort. R. Kelly moves from "TP-2.com" to "Love Land"
As if his record with Jay isn't enough R. Kelly also announced his new solo record this week. The album will be called "Love Land" and will be released in November. Kelly was inspired by September 11th and is writing a whole album about love with a New York vibe. When asked about it, Robert said, "'Love Land' is gonna say, 'Hey, New York, I'm feeling you.'" Looks like this year is shapin' up to be a big one for R. Kelly and his fans!

Billboard Awards Big Boy
R. Kelly took home six trophies at the 2001 Billboard Music Awards, held last night at Las Vegas' MGM Grand. Robert's six-pack ruled the R&B/hip-hop categories. He picked up trophies for artist of the year, album of the year (TP-2.com), albums artist of the year, single of the year ("Fiesta" featuring Jay-Z), songwriter of the year and singles artist of the year. "TP-2.com" is R. Kelly's fifth album. His last effort, the double album "R", has been certified six-times platinum. "I stay in the studio all the time, so something is gonna happen," R. Kelly remarked about the new album. "Songs came quick this time, I'm always writing, always creating something, you know, and that's from staying in the studio all the time."
The "TP" in the album title refers to R. Kelly's 1993 release,"12 Play", but this one will include more than 12 tracks, making it 12 Play 2000. Currently. R. Kelly has two songs on the Shaft soundtrack:"Bad Man" and "Up and Outta Here" as well as "Just A Touch" on the Nutty Professor II soundtrack. "TP-2.com" is in stores on November 7th 2000.
