October 2002 mop choppin' & puddle hoppin'

Oct. 3rd, 2002- I'm so psyched! It still may not feel anything like fall, but this is the first day in months that the thermometer in the plane read under 100 degrees! Today it says it's only 88 degrees and I'm feeling like it may be time to pull out the winter clothes.
Oct. 3rd, 2002- From the air, the suburbs of Atlanta look like a giant 60 mile wide cancer eating away at the rest of the planet. This subdivision near Conyers is one of the craziest ones I've seen yet. The cows are being replaced by human sardines.
Oct. 3rd, 2002- Some random spot over Lake Lanier. I just thought the color of the water looked groovy, especially with those cloud shadows and red clay.
Oct. 3rd, 2002- Buford Dam . This is where Lake Lanier turns back into the Chattahoochee river.
Oct. 17, 2002- Well, lookit here... Instructor Amy D. got new glasses and I got that mop on my head chopped off ! Sounds like we're getting old even if we still look like kids.
Oct. 18, 2002- Just as I was ready to depart PDK, a twin Cessna came in with an unlocked main gear which collapsed on touchdown. He ended up skidding off the side of the runway into the grass. No one was hurt but it closed down the main runway for most of the day causing this massive traffic jam.
Oct. 18 2002- This is an annoying way to build up flight time, sitting on the taxiway at PDK for an hour. That big blob in the sky is a rare turboprop-DC-3 on final for runway 34.
The south end of Lake Lanier from 7500 feet. Gainesville is the beige blob at the upper right.
The north end of Lake Lanier
High above the parentals house, 9500 feet over Squirrel creek at the north end of Lake Lanier. The bridge at the bottom of the picture is Mt. Vernon and the road going across the top is Thompson Bridge.
