Our K1 Visa Story
I am writing on my experience on how I obtained k1 visa for my husband for others who are in the process so as to learn from my story for I learnt from others as well. First of all K1 visa can only be processed by a United State Citizen for one's fiancé Some folks keep asking me what do I mean when I say I am trying to obtain K1 visa the truth is one can't have a slight idea of things unless you have cause to go through it.

June 1999
It was high time I filed the K1 visa form hence processing started. I sent in the form to Texas because I reside in Georgia State where you send the form to is determined on where you reside. I downloaded the k1 visa forms from the immigration web site from instructions given I filled I-129F and 2 G-325A forms and mailed them in to Texas with a cheque of $95.00(Please verify recent cost the cost may have changed)
July 1999
The forms were sent back to me that I had no single evidence that me and my fiancé had being dating before I left Nigeria in 1997 more or less I need to send things like proof of when I traveled out, letters written to each other till the present time also pictures: and they said I must send all the proof before August 1999. The lesson learnt here is when you send the forms go ahead and send enough and reasonable proofs. Hence I sent the followings to them copy of my passport to show I left Nigeria Sept 1997,Pictures we took together in front of Airport day of departure, pictures taken during time of courtship and also letters written to each other (Also It is advisable to keep each and every copy of letters from your fiancée for it is useful for this filing).
August 1999
I received a receipt from the immigration office in Texas saying they had received my application and processing it that they will write me soon to tell me the outcome that me getting a receipt does not mean application was approved.
November 1999
A letter of approval arrived from immigration I was so excited with mixed feelings and told my self know what you wish for: The letter stated that the notice was valid from Nov 1999 to March 2000 which means we must get married between that period. The next question I asked my self was will American Embassy back home in Nigeria be able to process all things within those periods? Hence I wrote immigration office immediately and asked them that question saying if nothing happens back home within Nov '99 to March 2000 what will happen I never got a response. Then I called American Embassy in Nigeria that how soon will My husband be invited they said they could not really tell 'cause there were a host of others ahead of him so more or less relax and I did!
March 2000
End of March My fiancé got a letter of interview for the K1 visa @ the American Embassy in Lagos Nigeria.
April 2000
Hallleluyah to God of Heavens My fiancé was granted the K1 visa .
June 2000
My fiancé arrived and he was given permit to work @ the port of entry in New York
