Mechanical Engineerng Department

|
The department of Mechanical Engineering was established about 60 years
ago. It offers Doctors(PhD), Masters(M.Tech) and bacheors programme(B.Tech & B.E.).
Every year competetitive exams are held to admit 92 students to B.Tech and 42 to the
three M.Tech courses. in Thermal Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering and
Machine design. The department offers eighty five UG and thirty three PG courses in
the various disciplines of Mech. Engineering.

The department with its very well qualified teaching staff is actively engaged in
teaching and research and also contributes to the academic and corporate life of the
campus. Members of the department have published over 600 research papers in national
& international journals of repute and have participated in conferences and seminars all
over the world.

The department provides well equipped laboratories in the following disciplines :
Turbine/Pump, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics/Turbomachines, Microprocessro
applications, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Internal Combustion Engines, Heat Power,
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Combustion and Pollution Control, Heat transfer,
Machinery Dynamics, Stress Analysis/Tribology, Production engineering, Computers &
Robotics, Material Science, Metrology and CNC, Quality assurance, CAD & CAM.

Students are taken on educational tours to various industries and have to
undergo summer training as part of curriculum in order to provide them with practical
knowledge of modern machines, materials and processes. The training and placement
office arrange interviews for students and help them in getting suitable jobs. It is
heartening to note that our students are performing exceptionally well in National tests
such as GATE.

Over a dozen Halls of residence, good sports facilities(Including those of Horse
Riding, Swimming, gymnastics) and above all the congenial environment makes the stay
of our students comfortable and memorable. Students are also provided with various
clubs (Drama, Literary, Music & Film clubs) to nurture their co-curricular activities, all of
which are provided free of charge.
