Rafu Shimpo is the largest Japanese American daily newspaper.

The venerable dailies San Pedro News Pilot and Santa Monica Outlook were shut down by their owner, Copley Newspapers, in 1998. In closing the Outlook, Monday, March 16, 1998, was the first day in almost 125 years in which Santa Monica did not have a local newspaper. The San Pedro News Pilot began publishing 97 years prior.

In 1927, William Forbes served as Editor-in-Chief of UCLA's Daily Bruin.
