His Vivisection

Ziggy - An English Lit student, into indie music, world cinema, obscene art and celebrating madness. Interested in long, deep and stimulating conversations going beyond the (current, recent or future) state of weather. A bit of an arrogant, aloof-intellectual wanker but way too insane to be boring. According to some: mad, crazy, unpredictable, a bigmouth. But they meant it as a compliment, I promise.

Writing about yourself is quite weird for many reasons, this is the best I’ve managed to piece together for now and it should slowly keep evolving.

On Ziggy

Ziggy tends to be quite shy when he meets new people, but once he feels comfortable with someone, he might reveal his slightly mad and extravert side. In fact, he’s a very outgoing and sociable person, although he can do neither small talk, nor the “I like everyone” mode well at all.

A non-conformist + a bigmouth = Ziggy He usually says what’s on his mind and holds quite strong views on most issues. He’s way too lazy and unorganized to be a proper activist but one day (ie. tomorrow/next week, etc.) he would like to get more involved in voluntary work or various political campaigns.

While he considers labels to be reductive and often misleading, for the purposes of space and simplicity, he would classify himself as an “alterglobalist” (which basically means that he opposes the so-called "globalisation," designed to benefit the business sector only, and not the majority of people) and an “atheist” (which is self-explanatory). He’s also called by his partner a “radical materialist” but he’s not really sure whether he agrees with that.

While he doesn’t believe in anything supernatural, he finds Buddhism quite inspiring and it’s similarity with contemporary postmodern theories fascinating (especially considering the texts were written thousands of years ago).
SOME OF ZIGGY'S FAVOURITE THINGS
SKATERS
Ziggy doesn't subscribe to the idea of fandom and while he likes certain skaters more than others, it doesn't mean that he's ever completely obsessed about or uncritical of them. His "favourite skater list" tends to change all the time, to the merriment of some people.

He definitely prefers the European style of skating to the North American one, and tends to get more enjoyment from watching "obscure" skaters than big stars. However, he loves skating in general and gets excited by a mere sight of zamboni.

Three documentaries, which Ziggy wishes everyone would watch (very eye-opening) are: Control Room, Corporation and The Take

As you can probably guess by the size of the above list, he is a real film buff with a big interest in world cinem
a.
Politically, he situates himself on the far left (the Political Compass test results were above 9.5/10 to the left – be scared), and he anticipates the advent of “ecological economics,” which would care for the quality of life of people, and not just raw numbers like GDP, which are virtually meaningless to an average citizen.

He would like to see ideas of humanism motivating the politics – to see people take more consideration, or even empathy, of other sentient beings. He’s a vegetarian (and a wannabe vegan, one day, tomorrow, eventually, etc.).

He doesn’t have to believe in "karma" to subscribe to actually very rational belief of "being nice to people means they will be nice to you in return."

Although that doesn’t always work since he has quite a bad temper and a very short fuse, so be warned.

Suprisingly, considering all of the above, he hates the meek, woolly-liberal, hypocritical Guardian and will take Indy over it anytime (if you're not British, then don't worry, it's only natural that you don't know what the hell am going on about in this paragraph).
