Hi, I am Amanda, but the world calls me Mandy.  I live in Pennysylvania.  I am 15 years old.  I am legally blind and all of my life I was picked on by othes. This really hurt me a lot and I felt bad.  But then I met Sam, he was also legally blind and picked on a lot, but he was also mentally challenged.  I started to be thanful for who I was and got inloved in a lot of projects to help others.  I started working with Habitat for Humanity that builds houses for homeless people.  I also helped the elderly by providing them with food and someone to talk to.  Thanks to Sam who was my coach through it all I started to help handicapped students in my school.  I also taught those teens who tease those who were handicapped to respect those with disabilities.  If I ever start to feel like no one is there for me, I just remember what Sam said "It does not matter what people say. To me you are ALWAYS a somebody."  I want everyone who reads this to know that you are ALWAYS a somebody.
My name is Thomas and I am 10.  I raised money to buy smoke alarms and carbon monoxide dectors which were then given to the edlery people in my town.  I raised the money by having sponsored walks, swims, and discos. If you want to know more of how I did my project e-mail me at: thomas.wath@ic24.net

I am Samantha from Australia, I raised $30,000  for the intellectually handicapped.  I did that by selling raffle tickets for cars and holidays.  I also held baby and model shows with the help of my family and I sold boxes of chocolates door to door.  It was the long haul, but to help these people who if you meet some of them are so loving and caring it is all worth while.  I am on trach to raise even more money this year.  You can contact me at: earlb@one.net.au.

My schoolmates and I had been visiting homes of the eldery, orphanges and schools for the deaf. We taught them simple crafts, played games with them, taught them useful knowledge, and became interested in them. Myself and two other Dreamers from HK also  participated in Skip a Meal, Save a Life program  I also lead a team of 3 to help create web-based educational material. that was ranked in the top 20% of the International ThinkQuest Internet Challenge .  I hope all of us can make this world really a better place both now and in the future.  I can be reached at: manchee@zensearch.net
I raised over USA $28,000 for the American Cancer Society and I started a program that gets together backpacks with things for children to do while going through chemotherapy (like books, cd players, games, magazine, coloring books). This was the most fun thing I have done in my life. I love all you Dreamers!  I am at: ZzManda2zZ@aol.com

I help people in my community with their computers. They call me and I answer their questions or go to their houses and help fix their computers. I designed a website for the Chamber of Commerce and in turn they donated $400.00 worth of software to my school. They also paid me $100.00 and with that I bought a scanner for my school.  I can be reached at: darsey@caprock-spur.com

Hi, this is Ann.  Although some people think I am handicapped because I have a muscle weakness, I do not view myself as handicapped.  I was nominated because I am a role model for other children because I have never given up acheiving and helping others because of my 'handicapped.'  I hope more young people will be inspired to do their best and help others in their own way.  Don't think that you can't do anything to change your environment or situation or that you have to perform miricles. Start small, you may be surprised at the results.  I am at: aingeal@hotmail.com

I became a Dreamer because I helped my mom run a foster-care home for children 0-12 years.  I also planned and organized a teen riders program with the company my dad works at.  I designed mud flaps that read drugs, alcohol and desiel don't mix.  I organized and fundraised a living memorial for  my best friend who was killed during the summer and a lot of her friends could not say good bye.  I also sing the national athem at sporting events.  I can be reached at: andraella@gotmail.com
My "doing good" started with something bad.  When I was 9 my gradmother died and I was devasted. One month after her death I created a kidz nighborhood newspaper to earn money for cancer research.  Now the paper is in 26 states and 17 countries.  It is used not only by kids but by teachers, therapists, parents and presenters at internatonal conferences. I write about issues and feature amazing kids who are making a difference in their communities. Other kids write for the paper too. The paper is called the "Informer" and in 1999 it raised $1,900 for the American Cancer Society.

When I was 10, I was inspired by a Bosnain cellist's  heroic non-violent protest. Since then I have worked to advance non-violence at the local, national and international levels. I founded a non-profit organization and I comissioned the Childrens International Peace-and -Harmony statue to be sent to Bonsia as a gift from the world. I created "Operation Yellow Bow For Kosovo"  I raised over $4,000 for ethnic Albanians. I organized the Warrick County Annual Spring Food Drive to help feed the poor in my community.  In 1999 my projects resulted in approximately $45,000 in cash and kind.  From 1996-2000 I have contributd nearly 5,000 hours of comunity service.    I have a website at: http://members.sigecom.net/jdc

Hi Dreamers! I am 16 and a junior in high school. I am a girl scout so I do lots of volunteer work. The most important project that I think I have done is to put together 600 welcome bags for a women's abuse shelter called "Womens' Space." I also got my community involved in supporting the shelter by organizing a drive to get the shelter the things that it needed.

Alexandra Shungodzo Govere, Zimbabwe/USA
Hi I am Alexandra.  I am 12 years old and a citizen of Zimbabwe and USA.  My dream was to be the first Black female athlete to represent Zimbabwe as an artistic gymnast.  It seemed odd to me that any sports team in Zimbabwe, Africa  would not have a Person of Color on it, so I was motivaited to end this colonial injustice.  Because of my own experience with racism in the sport of gymnastics in Zimbabwe, more and more I made my goal of doing gymnastics to help end racism in my country.    When my country was called Rhodesia, only White children had access to the sport of gymnastics.  I am so happy to be able to help end the remnants of the racist society that we in Zimbabwe still carry with us.  I have also been involved in many community service projects, the latest project  I carried out was to help the Red Cross raise money for flood relief in Mozambique.  I am an active member of the NAACP, an honor student, and I help my ballet teacher teach classes to the younger students.  I believe each person can make a difference, and I will keep tryng to do that.  To know more about me visit my website at: http://www.oocities.org/sashamde

Greetings Dreamers!  I am 15 year s old, but my story starts when I was 13 and wanted to take a Microsoft certificate course in Systems Engineering.  My Mum could not afford the course, so I started working for New Horizons and in return I got to take the course.  I became the youngest person in New Zealand to earn that certificate.  New Horizons put me in touch with an organization called "youth skills" and I entered two of their competitions. More importantly I host their website now.  I am able to host non-profit organizations because of my organizations that pay me for my services.   The more customers I have the more I am able to host non-profit groups for free, so I am always looking for new customers.  My website is at: http://www.webpros.co.nz
Marilia and Gabriel Metzler de Oliveira, Brazil
Dear Dreamers, Our project started with a tragic beginning. A group of teenagers lived and are living a tragedy because of a homemade bomb explosion. One of the boys, Tiago, 13, died and my brother (Gabriel, 15) lost the sight in his right eye and seriously damaged the sight in his left eye. Because of this I formed "Grupo Alerta Vida" or in English "Life Awareness Group" with Gabriel and our friends to make society aware of the problems associated with explosives, the easy means of acquiring explosive and fireworks, disrespect of the laws regulating the production and trade in explosives and to get the media involved in raising the consciousness of society about this life and death issue.  Marilia is at: Gabriel@net-uniao.com.br
