One Hour Photo I give this film/movie 4 free rolls of film, my highest rating being 4 free rolls of film W/processing. The reason Mr. Director I can’t give you the higher rating (and I really Want to!) is because Mr. Director about three quarters through the thing you have a real plausibility problem at a critical plot junction concerning a \certain set of photos that are introduced in the film… HOWSOMEEVER!!! This is a great piece of cinema about different layers of creepiness and obsession in middle class society where the so-called creepy obsessive guy turns out to be for the most part not much more creepy obsessive then the yuppies.. (Cool! give my people a break! And quite pleasurably “The Bad Guys” are not so set up for us, like they are for example, in Robo-Cop ( which I thought worked anyway ) or (Barf!) The Matrix (Barf! Again!) About Robin Williams performance, Everybody recognizes after all these film years what a basically empathetic and sympathetic person and actor R.W. is...Well SURPRIZE!! Get ready for his Breakout- Movie in this regard…and this is probably the best job any director has done of incorporating Robin’s sense of humour in a serious movie Director “whats his name “ (I really should look that up) achieves everything in this movie message wise that Kubrick was trying for in “Eyes Wide Shut” but is far more entertaining and engaging Not that he doesn’t pay a lot of homage, intentionally or unwittingly to Mr. K. especially in his camera technique Real Time Terroriffic Attention to Detail is the name of the game here, But unlike Kubricks 2001 which is one of those movies people either love or hate, this film has a lot more depth of character and just plain ol’human interest and never threatens to be boring, nor do things happen out of context. Yep! Something for everybody in this excellent film in its creepy beautiful way I’m compelled to scrape up enough cash to go see this one again if for any other reason then to try and reconcile that plot and prop faux pax… Skullpants
