Summary of Alien (1979):

In deep space, the crew of the commercial starship Nostromo is awakened from their cryo-sleep capsules halfway through their journey home to investigate a distress call from an alien vessel.

After landing on a barren planet, Warrant Officer Ripley works to decipher the transmission and discovers that the signal is actually a warning, not an SOS. But it is too late to turn back as three members of the crew have already left to investigate the derelict ship.
he terror begins when Kane encounters a nest of eggs inside the alien ship. An organism from inside an egg leaps out and attaches itself to his face, causing him to fall into a coma. Because of the facehugger's awesome defenses, the crew of the Nostromo cannot remove it without also killing Kane.

The crew searches for a way to save Kane, the facehugger dies and Kane wakes up, feeling fine. He is brought out of isolation and the crew soon makes another horrifying discovery - the lifeform they've found breeds within a human host.
T he young alien that began its life inside of Kane escapes the astonished crew and hides in the Nostromo where it continues to develop. As the crew attempts to hunt it down, it in turn hunts them. While searching for a safe escape, Ripley discovers the Company's secret plans to bring the alien to Earth and that Ash, the Nostromo's Science Officer, is willing to kill his fellow crewmates to achieve this goal.  Warrant Officer Ripley ultimately finds that the alien must be destroyed, not only to save herself and her crew, but all of mankind. She sets the Nostromo to self-destruct and prepares to escape in a shuttle, leading to the final explosive battle for survival.

Summary of Aliens (1986):

After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. Her account of the alien and the fate of her crew are received with skepticism since the planet where Ripley first encountered the alien was colonized over twenty years earlier and no evidence was found to support her story. The Company declares her psychologically unfit and revokes her flight officer's license. Soon after, the colonists mysteriously disappear and Ripley may be forced to return to the planet where her nightmares began. Determined to face her fears and exterminate the deadly creatures, she accompanies a team of high-tech colonial marines and a Company representative to investigate.
Upon arriving at LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine year old girl named Newt. But even these battle-hardened marines with all the latest weaponry are no match for the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony. They are forced to cut short their search for more survivors and retreat to the Operations Center to await rescue themselves.
While securing their base, Ripley and the marines discover that the Company is still interested in obtaining an alien specimen, and that a facehugger has been planted in the room with Ripley and Newt in the hopes that they will become "hosts" and brought back to Earth.
But the aliens overcome the barriers to the Center and the marines, Ripley, and Newt are forced to retreat to the Landing Field.
Newt is captured during the retreat and Ripley goes back to save her. She finds that Newt has been taken to the domain of the alien Queen - a larger, more intelligent, and more frightening alien who is as determined to kill as the others.

Summary of Alien3 (1992):

While in cryo-sleep on the journey back to Earth, a fire on the Sulaco forces the main computer to eject the cryo-capsules in an Emergency Escape Vehicle.

Ellen Ripley is the only survivor when the EEV crash lands on Fiorina 161, a bleak wasteland inhabited by former inmates of the planet's maximum security prison. She finds herself an unwelcome visitor among a group of violent criminals who have found religion.

Because she is the only woman on the male dominated planet, Ripley endangers the balance of power for the prisoners, threatening to cause their killer instincts to resurface. But a greater menace soon arises as the mutilated bodies of ex-cons begin to mount.

Once again, Ripley must face skepticism and the alien as it hunts down the prisoners and guards. Without weapons or modern technology of any kind, Ripley leads the men into battle against the terrifying creature.

Ripley soon discovers that she is carrying the embryo of an alien Queen, which impels the lurking alien to protect her at all costs. The prisoners use this to their advantage, and plan to use her as bait to lure the alien into a trap.
Company representatives are sent to the planet to acquire the alien for their Bio-Weapons Division, but Ripley is still determined to prevent this creature from arriving on Earth.

The company learns of the alien Queen Ripley is carrying, and in order to prevent them from acquiring the Queen, Ripley may feel compelled to destroy not only the horrific creature, but herself as well.
