ZION TAXI NEWSLETTER #10

Hi Zion Taxi fans,

I’ve been putting off writing this letter until I was more certain about what to put in it.

As you know, we let Jeff go back in July. Since then Tony Harp has been filling in for him. However, Tony has too much on his plate right now to spend the time necessary to keep up the pace of a band. This has left us with a big hole in the lineup, and we were not sure how we should fill it, if we should fill it at all. Also, Janelle and I recently got engaged, so what’s in store for us in the near future is unclear. We’re trying to sort out some of the big questions like, “Where will we live?” and “What will we eat?” What this means to Zion Taxi is that we don’t feel like we can ask someone to come in as our drummer and invest the necessary time to learn our material given the uncertainty about the future. It just wouldn’t be right to ask someone to endure 3 or 4 months of intensive rehearsals and then find out a few weeks later that two band members are moving to Zimbabwe. (Not that we are, but you get the idea.)

So, to make a long story short, Zion Taxi is on hiatus.

Even so, individually, the members of the Taxi are still at work. Tina is playing with Asheville based band Malachi. They are currently working on plans to take a mission trip to Africa. How exciting!

I’ve started working on a new album. My goal is to make a concept album. I have about 7 or 8 songs in my pocket that I’m trying to work around a common theme. I’ll probably add to that number as the project progresses. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

Also, if you haven’t gotten a copy of ZION TAXI: Live at Of 1 A-Chord there are still a few copies left. They are available for just $5. If you would like one, please email me. The supply is limited, so get yours today! Right now! Move your mouse pointer back over there and click that link and say, “I want a copy of the CD before you run out of them and I am subjected to endless months of major-label musical drivel!” Why are you still reading this? It will take you like 2 seconds to request a CD. Stop fooling around and get your CD.

Ok, enough shameless self-promotion. Thanks so much for the support, everybody.
