It can run on any platform that supports Java virtual machine. The built-in file system explorer can help user easily click and open a zip file. Each column of the table can be sorted with one click on the column header, and the order of the column can be easily changed with Drag and drop capability. Moreover, ZipAnywhere comes with 5 file viewers that can view the most often used files, including HTML pages, image files(GIF and JPEG), text files, RTF files, and the powerful hex viewer that can view each byte inside the file. To ensure it is portable on all platforms, some of features just exist in Windows are not supported. One of the examples is to make executable (*.exe) file. However, we do support a new executable format that is universal for Java world, that is, Executable JAR file. With this feature the zipped file can be runnable on any Java virtual machine. The system requirement is basically the same as that of Java 2 for any platform, which is quite low that most of the current system can satisfy. However, for the detailed requirement of a specific platform, please check the Java VM vendor’s home page. Installation and Uninstallation 1. Make sure that you have installed Java Runtime Environment(1.2 or later), which is free for download at Sun's Java site. Please download a free copy at this site and install it according to the installation instruction. If you have installed JDK that already include Java virtual machine, you don’t need to install Java Runtime any more. 2. Create a directory and copy the zipany.jar to the directory. 3. Issue the command: >java -jar zipany.jar Under Windows, you can also setup a desktop shortcut. Then you can just click it to run this program. Or 4. If you have installed JRE on Windows, you can just open the Windows Explorer and double click on the file zipany.jar. |
