Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived in their spaceship to planet Naboo. The child queen Padmé Naberrie Amidala received them. Planet Naboo is located near a crises zone. In this zone the political conflicts between different planets are becoming more and more frequent. Even some local fights (small scale wars) happened. Which is very unusual for the Republic, because there weren't any wars in the Republic for several thousand years. In this time the Republic knew only peace. There weren't even any armies in the Republic. Only the Jedis with their Force kept peace. But the Jedis were loosening their control in the crises zone, where the Force was becoming weaker and weaker. But that knew only the Jedis. Until now the crises zone encompassed only less important planets, but Naboo was the first larger planet that was affected by it. The Republic just couldn't allow that Naboo would become part of the crises zone. So Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, which was one of the highest Jedi Masters, was sent to Naboo. Besides that Padmé Naberrie Amidala had also a very confidential information for the Jedis, which she wanted to mediate only personally to them.
After the formal ceremony the two Jedis had a private meeting with the queen and some of her most confidential counselors. They went through the situation in the crises zone and how it affected Naboo. Then the Jedis were told about the last incident. Another planet from the crises zone was becoming more and more hostile to Naboo. Some days ago they attacked a Naboo mining station around a gas giant. They plundered it and killed all the workers. Qui-Gon Jinn tried diplomatically to reassure the queen and her counselors. Naboo had already a large police force. It was also a powerful and wealthy planet, so they could quickly build a large army and take revenge. Which would provoke a chain reaction and only make the crises worse. Fortunately the queen was a pacifist, but some of her counselors were not. But for the time being she could prevent Naboo from arming itself. Then the Jedis were told, that among the dead workers there was also a dead body of a Jedi. They all go to the mortuary to see the body. It was one of the Jedi that worked in that part of the crises zone. The most chocking thing was, that he was killed by a lightsaber. Only a Jedi could kill another Jedi with a lightsaber. From the beginning of the Jedi knights several thousands years ago not once did Jedi knights fight with each other. Because The Force was good and so all the Jedis were good, there was no bad or dark Force. And now suddenly for the first time in the history of the Jedis a Jedi was killed with a lightsaber. The body showed also several wounds, which indicated a very heavy fight. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi took the body to their space ship and went to the mining station to investigate the circumstances of the murder.
The mining station was large, partly destroyed, empty and very spooky. The Jedis walked around the station. They could feel a strange sensation - the Dark side of the Force. This was the first time in the history of the Jedi knights that the Dark side of the Force revealed itself to them. It was a terrifying experience for Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Maul was also in the station. First he watched the two Jedis secretly, then he attacked. There was a fierce battle with lightsabers between Darth Maul and the two Jedis in the corridors of the mining station. During the battle Darth Maul explained to the Jedis that he was a Dark lord of the Sith, that his master was Darth Sidious, that there was the Dark side of the Force, which was more powerful than the Force of the Jedis and that this was the beginning of the end of the Jedi Knights. When the Jedis heard this they had only one goal: to escape from Darth Maul, who was more powerful than both of them, and bring this information/warning to Coruscant, to Master Yoda and to the other Jedis. After a heavy fight they succeeded to escape from the mining station in their space ship. But Qui-Gon Jinn had a strange feeling that Darth Maul let them escape. As soon as they were in their spaceship they were attacked by a small army of spaceships. There was a spectacular space battle in the proximity of the gas giant and his large and beautiful rings. The Jedis escaped to the hyperspace.
Coruscant. The capital of the Republic. The whole planet was a large city. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived to Coruscant and they immediately presented the informations that they had to Yoda and other High Jedis Masters. The Jedis were chocked that there was a Dark side of the Force and they were even more shocked by the fact that the Dark side was hidden successfully for so long from them. Several thousands years ago the Galaxy was in turmoil. There were several intelligent species, several large or small empires, kingdoms, dictatorships which were more or less in constant war with each other. The suffering was great. Then one day on a small and deserted planet the intelligent species came in contact with the Force. First there was confusion but soon they learned the way of the Force. The Jedi knights were born. First they influenced the small part of the Galaxy around the planet, which was the origin of the Force. The Force brought stability and peace to that part of Galaxy which was still surrounded by wars, dead and suffering. In several hundreds years the Jedis became more and more numerous and powerful and their influence expanded through the whole Galaxy. They brought stability and peace to the whole Galaxy - the Republic was born, which lasted for several thousand years. In this period there were still conflicts, but the Jedis always prevented the escalation of the conflicts. The Force had the power to suppress the aggressiveness of the intelligent races. More powerful was the Force less conflicts there were. And the Force was spread by the Jedis.
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was going to the senate. He was a supporter of a more centralized and powerful Republic. With more and more conflicts in the Republic he became louder about his ideas of a strong Republic. With time he had also more supporters but also more opposition in the senate. His last suggestion was, that the Republic should have a strong army with which it could solve armed conflicts between planets. He was again trying to get the suggestion through the senate. But he didn't succeed, the opposition was to large. A lot of people were afraid of such a powerful army. And still they got the Jedis who solved such crises before, although in the past the crises were much smaller. After the senate Palpatine had a meeting with Yoda. Yoda didn't tell Palpatine about the Dark Force and Darth Maul. He didn't trust him to much and also the Jedis were not fond of a Republic army. The two of them discussed the crises zone from which Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi came back. With this crises zone there was also another problem. The crises zone was approaching planet Tatooine. On this planet the Jedis were secretly watching a young boy - Anakin Skywalker. The Force was exceptionally powerful with the boy. In all the history of the Jedi knights there was never a Jedi with such powers. Also there were some ancient almost lost myths that some day a extreme powerful Jedi will be born, who will bring through ferocious events balance back to the Force. The suffering will be great. Most Jedis were the opinion that they should be cautious and that they should not allow this boy to become a Jedi. So they made the decision that they would closely watch the boy but would not train him to become a Jedi. Palpatine agreed with this, but he would rather see that the boy would became o powerful Jedi who would help the Republic to become a strong and powerful Republic. But now that the crises zone was approaching Tatooine they couldn't let the boy stay much longer on the planet. The danger was to great. Especially if the Dark side of the Force would try to get he boy - but Palpatine didn't know that. So Yoda and Palpatine agreed that they would discretely evacuate the boy to another distant place.
Yoda and another High Jedi Master called Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to a private meeting. They told both Jedis everything about Anakin Skywalker. Only a small group of Jedis knew about the boy, so it was a surprise for both Jedis that such a boy existed. The plan was that the boy should be evacuated as quickly as possible to a distant planet and he would still not be allowed to become a Jedi. Three Jedis were already watching the boy on Tatooine and in the past days two more Jedis arrived to Tatooine to protect the boy. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi would go to Tatooine and Qui-Gon Jinn would supervise the evacuation. He was chosen because he was the only Jedi who had experience in confronting the Dark side and there was a possibility that the Dark side would try to get the boy. The Jedis hoped, that the Dark side didn't knew about the boy. But if there would be any sign that the Dark side knew about the boy and that it would try to get the boy to it's side, then the Jedis would change their decision and train the boy to become a powerful Jedi.
Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi went in their spaceship to Tatooine. Before they arrived, Darth Maul attacked the five Jedis that were protecting the boy. Only one heavy wounded Jedi survived. Darth Maul took the boy from his mother and escaped into the desert. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi found the wounded Jedi and went into the desert after Darth Maul. Both Jedis knew that Darth Maul was extremely powerful and that they would probably die confronting him, but they had to try to rescue the boy. The boy was to important for the Jedis. But now the two Jedis had an advantage, they knew who or what they would confront and they could prepare for that. They prepared themselves for the most important battle in their lives. They found Darth Maul and the scared boy in the desert. There was a long spectacular fight at sunset in the desert. The Jedis and Darth Maul got wounded several times. Also the boy got wounded during the battle. Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon Jinn, but he couldn't save himself from Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan Kenobi killed Darth Maul with his last strength. Before Qui-Gon Jinn dyed he told Obi-Wan Kenobi, that his intuition tells him, that the whole kidnapping and the fight was a setup. Obi-Wan Kenobi took the unconsciousness boy and went back to the city to get help for him. He knew that now there was no alternative - the Jedis would train the boy to become a powerful Jedi. Darth Sidious in his hidden place. He is extremely satisfied with the course of the events. Darth Maul his apprentice did a excellent job, just how he was trained to do.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was in front of Yoda and other High Jedi Masters on Coruscant. They were satisfied with him. He became a Jedi Master. His apprentice would be Anakin Skywalker. The Jedis decided, that the boy would be trained as a normal Jedi, there would be no mention of his exceptional power to him. But he would always be carefully watched and protected
