Office Suite Tips

Since no one likes to install patches after installing a product, Microsoft was kind enough to give us the ability to patch the installation files. Microsoft has included with the Office suite the ability to create an Administrative Installation Point for Network Administrators. Microsoft also provides updates for the Administrative Installation Points, in addition to regular updates for installed software. The only way to apply patches to the installation files is through the use of the Administrative Installation Point. The administrative patches have the file extension of MSP. These files are applied through the use of the Windows Installer via a number of command switches. I recommend using a Rewritable CD for copying the Administrative Installation Point as it can be easily updated when new Administrative updates are published. I also recommend using CDRWin to create an iso image file before creation of the CDs. The Office suite contains a number of small files which contribute to buffer under runs when using slower systems or fast CD rewriters.
