The Rotary Club’s Hydroponics project has received important backing.
The Honourable Minister of Agriculture Margaret Dyer Howe has hailed the pilot project in Carrs Bay.
The programme is jointly funded by Rotary International and the Rotary Club of London, and coordinator Julian Romeo says it is designed to show how food can be produced using limited land space and resources.

Marine Biologist Wolf Krebs he is pleased with the outcome of Tuesday’s meeting between the Montserrat and Antigua governments on the dumping of dredged materials in the Caribbean Sea.
The Antiguan delegation led by Environment Officer Molwyn Joseph explained that the materials, dredged from the St. Johns Harbour would not affect marine life.
He said samples were tested and the low levels of metals such as copper and zinc were well below internationally accepted standards.
Krebs, who operates a diving business, is not as concerned about the impact the dredged materials would have on the island’s marine resources.

Director of Tourism Ernestine Cassell also played a prominent part in the talks on Tuesday.
She said her fears too have been allayed.

Chief Minister John Osborne is hoping there will be spill offs for Montserrat in the dredging of the St. Johns Harbour.
The harbour is being dredged to make more room for large cruise ships.
And Mr. Osborne hopes some of the tourists will visit Montserrat as well.
