Stories
My background is in journalism. I started as a journalist, but that didn't completely satisfy my needs. I had taken some education on storytelling and film history at Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Belgrade. My intention was to get masters degree in Film History. Completed all exams, started research and wrote something that I liked to consider as a book about Bosnian cinema. Obviuously, I was going too deep in my analisys. With more than 500 pages done I finished just 60 % of intended work.
Suddenly I entered completely new career: directing of music videos. That was fun!
But my book was advancing very slowly. It took me several years to write another 10-15 %.
When civil war started in my hometown Sarajevo, I fled. All materials I gathered working on that book and book itself were left at my home. To save it, my friends took it to their place. When they fled, they gave it to their friends.
#!^%* the book! - I said. It's good to be alive.
After a couple of years I couldn't control my curiosity any more. Asked, asked and asked. What happened with my "book"?
Those poor guys lived too long in devastating conditions of city war. They used my papers as a fuel, to make a fire, to cook a soup.
Now, my motto is:

Soup it up!

We can talk and talk about stories, how to construct it, what types there are etc., but when it comes to storytelling, and I mean really good story telling, all those theories help just a bit.
Good story is always told from stomach. Therefore, stomach is important in this industry.
