The air has cooled,
crisp and clean.
Sent of winter approaching.
Drifting in on wisps of clouds,
through a clear night,
speckled with stars.
Winter's Night
Warm light escapes unshuttered windows,
candles ablaze.
Houses twinkling in joyious celebration.
A soft wind carries the sounds of laughter and music.
Another breeze,
the smell of a feast.
Puffs of mist show life,
in the form of warm breath.
Bare branches discuise that existence beneath.
Yet a select few give promise of spring,
when all Earth's children appear once more.
For now we wait,
but we do not hide.
Take a walk in the cool night,
embrace this time of year.
A time for family.
A time for friends.
A time for life.
A time for love.
It is now when we huddle close.
Take stock of what we hold dear.
The cold a reminder of our fragility.
Those who warm our hearts,
a reminder of how special we truly are.
Here on this winter's night.
