| Each November Colombia holds its national beauty pageant in Cartagena. The weeks leading up to the event are filled with a myriad of preparations. Each contestant must make final fittings on a lavish wardrobe. They have lessons on how to style their hair, apply makeup, speak with poise and walk with grace. Then, two weeks before the pageant, contestants are flown to Cartagena where they put into practice their new skills as they are paraded before the public during a whirlwind of public and private events. |
