Du rags-  When we were in CIT these were all the rage.  Tye-dyed or traditional bandanas were sported camp wide largely inspired by Elf a counselor who made it her personal trademark.

This movie has become almost synonomous with camp.  You might have been one of the many who joined in a dinning hall rendition of "I'm the King of New York."

Name necklaces-
Campers, CITs, and Counselors alike have gotten caught up in this trend which includes seed bead necklaces with camp names spelled out with alphabet letters.

Illegal tank tops-
This is really a counselor thing.  The very popular "Target Tank Tops"  were found to be unsuitable attire for camp but they still hold a special place in our heart.

Braids- Braids of all shapes and sizes.  This trend goes back to when we were CITs but has really blossomed in the last few years with the dread look becoming popular.  Zokey has been known to sport the dread look from time to...okay all the time.

Glitter-
Just becoming a new trend thanks to MAD group the last few years glitter has put a sparkle into camp, especially for formal dinners!

Story time-
When we were in CIT we had a counselor name Kermit who would read to us after lunch from her romance novel.  This grew into the inside joke of eating pretend popcorn when  a story was to be told.

Sleeveless shirts-
Made popular by the maintenance crew the sleeveles shirts were big in the 97-98 camp seasons.

Cool of all Cool Patrol (COACP)-
This is a not so secret group of counselors (namely Zokey) who leave little presents, notes, or special surprises during the night to keep the staff moral high during the camp session.  Cool of all cool patrol was coined after a popular question Woody would ask at the dinner table...."Who's the cool of all cool at Camp Daisy Hindman?"    The cool of all cool patrol was started in 1996.  We hope to add it to the traditions and that some great gals will take it over when we leave.

Campfires-
Closing campfire quite possibly the single most meaningful period of time at camp.

Spinning the wheel-
Our way of assigning jobs.  It is a privlidge to spin wheel a meals...its great to practice being mean.

Wint O Green Pixies-
If you haven't heard the infamous Pixie story told by Zoey you are really missing out.  The story goes along with the chewing of wintergreen life savers in the dark storm shelters during storm drills.

Singing on the porch at meals-
Silly songs or ceremonial singing on the porch is one of those thing you don't realize how much you enjoy until it's gone.

Secret Buddies-
The game similar to secret santa that staff participates in every year.

A night special for CIT's been in place as long as any one can remember!  Watch out we saw an armidillo in 1997!

CIT graduation lunch-
This meal marks the  end of the CIT stay.  They get a table to themselves and often have special presentaions planned.

Every morning and evening we have a flag ceremony outsided the dinning hall.  Resent years have been differt with the broken flag pole allowing for some very creative ceremonies.

Camper Council-
Delegates from each unit make up camper council.  It is their job to plan meals and all camp activities.

All Camp-
Some time during the week the whole camp gets together for an all camp activity.  Sometimes a compition, others parties, or other fun events to showcase the spirit and things the unit has learned during the week. .... Okay, it's really just a party!!

Staff pictures-
Every year the staff takes pictures.   Typically they are taken on the steps of  the dinning halll porch.  There is usually a silly picture taken as well.  Often times the pictures are sold at the trading post.
