From the director
and translator of
the German
production:
Markus Weber
There was a pre show. The audience had
to enter the theatre through a 150 meter long dark tunnel. They were
inspected and examined, got sprayed with security gas, got fresh air, had
to answer stupid questions and were served toxic drinks ... a decontamination
of sorts. That's why I sent you the pre show pics as well.
The show was then played in a "high
security block." At the beginning of the show the guards had
the audience practice rules and regulations in case of emergency.
The audience was seated on movable podest so that we were able to move
them in ever new situations ...
Toffee's hair turned white because of
shock when she heard about Jonny's death ... for the prom she dies her
hair black again to be what she used to be.
Delilah Strict was played by one of
the most known actors of the Meininger State Theatre. We had him
made up as the perfect American Star and called him/her Zaza Gabor.
Before the opening night we flew him in by helicopter and he/she resided
at the biggest Hotel of the town and refused to give interviews.
The press bought it and was a bit angry when they finally found out the
set up. We gave him "Hollywood breasts" which he even exposed during
the show. Everyone believed they were real!
Ricardo's show [note: that character's
name changed to Eddie Flagrante for the off-Broadway production] was powered
up with video so he had the possibility to directly go to the high school
and anywhere else via video.
